A while back, a friend kindly bought a game on sale for me because it looked like fun for multiplayer. Once I picked it up, I had a hard time putting it down, and I ended up enjoying it so much more than even he did! That game was Running With Rifles.

Running With Rifles is a top-down shooter somewhere between arcade and realism gameplay where you play as one soldier just as expendable as all the AI ones around you. As you progress through the match or your online career, you gain experience (increasing your rank and allowing you to use more weapons and equipment) and resource points (currency used for buying such weapons and equipment or calls like artillery and vehicle drops.)

Even though the game doesn't have the largest community, it has a solid one and enough players to keep public multiplayer interesting. Outside of even that, the game is plenty of fun in singleplayer and only more fun when played with some friends. Running With Rifles is also a very moddable game and is a very good place to pick up some basic skills on modding. (I created the Weltkrieg mod with a buddy and have more coming soon!) Not to mention the excellent developers who really do care for their game and its community. JackMayol, one of the devs, even added me just to help fix a mod crash after a game update!

All in all, Running With Rifles is a spectacular game with a good community and caring developers and is an absolute must-have, especially if you can catch it on sale!
