The Gold Standard for Open World Survival

That title is NOT an exaggeration, Abiotic Factor in my opinion is as close as we currently have to a near-perfect Open World Survival Crafting Game. With an Enthralling, Dark, Gripping Story, Incredible Visuals that Ooze Love for their Inspiration Material and Near Perfect Co-Op Gameplay, Abiotic Factor is one of my Favourite Games of ALL Time.

Lets get into it! Abiotic Factor is an Open World Sci-Fi Survival Game that blends the Survival Genre with a Sci-Fi Action Thriller. Heavily Inspired by the Original Half-Life from 1998, Abiotic Factor takes place in the Fictional GATE Cascade Research Facility in the Aftermath of a Science Experiment gone Disastrously Wrong. You and your Friends play as Scientists who find themselves thrown straight into the deep end of the toilet ending up spat out an Elevator after your Training into the Cafeteria where it's clear that this isn't the typical day you were expecting. You'll fight tooth and nail against the monsters that now call GATE Home alongide encountering all sorts of interesting Anomalies and Experiments along your Journey as you try to piece together what GATE were researching at the time of the Invasion, what is going on with the Portals and Border World you're going into and ultimately, who, is to blame.

The Game is Classic Survival done to Perfection, with a focus on Player Driven Progression, you'll have to Survive and Thrive by turning everyday office supplies into Tools, Weapons, Armour and Items to ensure you stay alive throughout the night and the strange Power System GATE Employees have found themselves working with. The Game is Packed with QoL that you've come to love from Craft from Storage to having skills levelled by using them, increasing the overall immersion.

Presentation wise, Abiotic Factor is Breath-taking. The game blends a Retro Artstyle with Modern Graphical Features to create a truly unique look that is insanely cool to play in. Lighting is all Ray Traced with UE5's Lumen but the Optimisation is Top-Notch, albeit with the occasional crashes on DX12 mode for me (Other friends did NOT experience this).

With all this in mind, should you get this game? A Million Times Yes!
I was lovingly provided the Supporter Edition by Playstack however I would've EASILY dropped money on this the day it came out, full price. It's a long, charming, incredible game and I cannot recommend it enough to fans of the genre.

Get some friends, and go digging Scientists!

Final Verdict: Bloody Fantastic

Seven Souls of Chaotic Piracy! ☠️

Yar-Har Fiddle Me D ya Land Lubber F**kers, Windrose is here and it's DAMN Good!
Windrose is an Open World Action Survival Game set in the 1700s where Pirates Rule the Seven Seas and you just so happen to be one of them, albeit with a bullet in your chest because you couldn't perfect guard in a cutscene... Look it ain't always easy alright, cut us pirates some slack!

Blending a Souls-Like Combat Style with Amazing Naval Combat, Thrilling Action and Top-Tier Survival Gameplay with Plenty of QoL, it's clear to me that Windrose is a Labour of Love from it's small Independent Studio, those who truly get how to ace this genre.

Though, being Early Access, the game isn't without faults. I'd STRONGLY advise if you're playing in Co-Op, TURN DOWN THE SCALING. The Game by Default makes it so that every additional player adds an additional 100% Health to Every. Single. Enemy in Co-Op Play. This me and my mate found quite unbalanced but turning it down to 25% suited us much better as a 2 Man Team with one of us being versed in Souls Games and well, me, being bollocks at them XD.

The Game is, at times, Very Challenging, Especially in the Early Game and the Beginning of the 2nd Zone, but stick with it and go in with friends, there is truly something special here! Couple this with the insanely good Original Soundtrack by Sean Dagher from Assassin's Creed 4's Shanties, you're in for one hell of a good time!

I will 100% be continuing to Sail the Seas for a LONG while yet and I cannot wait to see what comes of this game in the Future on the road to 1.0

Banded together with nearly my entire team to form a great army of BLU Soldiers who charged in for democracy and war in order to annihilate the RED Team on a full 3 round map of OG Gold Rush.

Some of the most fun I've had gaming in ages, shoutout to those I got to play with on Warsaw.tf today!

Absolute Quality Fun
Had an absolute blast playing this tonight with a group of close friends. We had a great time going back and fourth mixing comical answers with real answers and ending up in barrels of laughter with many of the responses.

Devs are really chill and had a lovely conversation with them over Bluesky, all 4 of us have wishlisted and will be 100% buying upon release! Looking forward to new content and more!

On a Postive Gaming Note, Today's Indie Recommendations go to TREPANG 2

This is F.E.A.R + DOOM Eternal to the Max. A Beautiful Ultra Violent Indie FPS with the influence of its predecessors on it's sleeves!

Developed by Trepang Studios in Canada and Published by Team17, Trepang has some just Incredibly Smooth Action and Slow Motion which makes it an absolute blast to play with so far alongside a really interesting almost SCP and FEAR esc Story that's certainly got me hooked!

A Flawed Barrel of Laughs!

The Break-In, the indie answer to performing the ultimate heists if the heisters weren't the payday gang but instead were the 3 ♥♥♥♥♥♥' Stooges and their wannabe companion. Developed by Oliver Josh as a Solo Dev, The Break In is a 4 Player Cooperative Stealth Action Game about becoming increasingly dangerous robbers!

The Game has unique and charming artstyle with a fun blend of minimal and cartoony stylisation to both keep the game lookin good and running smooth given it's available for both Non-VR and VR! The Physics are Wacky and the Gameplay extremely fun with lots of variety to the missions, different levels and randomisation's to keep each re-run feeling completely unique to the last!

The Break-In is best when played with a Full 4 Player Team and is clearly most optimised for Virtual Reality however unlike prior games of similar cross-platform ilks, The Break-In transfers it's unique controls well to PC with an interesting and different climbing system that while complex at first, provides the player with a VR level of Control over their movement Horizontally and Vertically, making it easy to find the best way into your chosen place of pinchin'.

However, what lies alongside a great and charming game is a number of frustrating bugs that have on multiple occassions caused total mission failures. The Game does NOT feature any Game Breaking Bugs however, a great sign of polish given it's Solo Developer Team though the game isn't without it's flaws.

Regularly myself and friends were detected at random, found ourselves with police spawning infront or behind us and tasing us instantly or on one occassion, being handed an objective that was impossible to complete, rendering us unable to complete the assigned goal. However Bugs are being REGULARLY Patched with promising regular updates from the Dev over the last 3 days since launch, each with new and more fixes than the last with exploits and bugs being fixed left and right, good on you Oliver, love to see it!

Overall, in the current state, The Break-In is again a Charming and Comical Game for you and your friends to enjoy despite it's flaws. The Game features plenty of content for the price with more planned for the future with the developer regularly posting and interacting with the community on social media. Despite the bugs, if you can look past it's flaws, The Break-In is an easy pickup and a great time for you and your friends alike to practice stealing all your favourite shiny stuff.

And for legal reasons, That's a Joke.
