Nekopara: A game about cute catgirls working in a cafe.
The catgirls are genetically modified human-feline hybrids (as mentioned in the game).
They may have shortened lifespans (longer than a cat´s, shorter than a human), suggested by their accelerated maturation periods (child/kittenhoods).

They are kept as pets.
Feral catgirls exist (mentioned in game).
They are often abandoned (as shown in game and in the OVA trailer).
They are required to have a special token showing they are "Qualified" to go out without their owners known as a "Bell" or "independent Action Permit".
The bell has a GPS tracker inside.
Catgirls without an Independent Action Permit must have their owners with them at all times.

Nekopara isn´t an Erotic Visual Novel, it´s a dystopia, like a cross between Brave New World and a Handmaid´s Tale , where human-feline hybrids, sentient, sapient beings with human level intelligence are owned as pets, bred for obedience and aren´t allowed independence without passing "The Test".

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel the unfinished story... and subpar plot... even undeveloped characters. The game I've lost... the cut content I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like it's all still there. You feel it, too, don't you?
