Really good RPG that respects your time and lets you play how you want.

These items are single use, it's not enough to even equip a full team, only three players of your team. I got it as part of the Brutal Edition, but it's not worth it at all.

If you want to spend 3 bucks for some minor customization, at least these aren't limited use. They don't help in game, but it's not as greedy as the other customizations. I got this as part of the brutal version but would not have bought it if I didn't.

2023-03-07 Edit: I have now played it for 26 hours.
Good News: They are improving the game. It is much more stable. They have changed the monetization to something sane.

Bad news: There are still crashes, there are still lots of missing or broken skills, and I can't recommend this yet because you can't play to the proper rules and it is missing things that are advertised on the store page. For example

"Pitches with special game rules to add variety to your matches"
Only in the "campaign", not anywhere else.

"New customization options for your coaches, cheerleaders, teams and every piece of your players' armour"
No choices for Cheerleaders unless you got the special content.

"An improved competitive mode with new league management features and an official ladder"
League Management is not in the game. The official ladder is not in the game as a functioning thing.

"Play with your choice of faction and use this team in all other game modes"
Nope. If you use a team for the campaign, you can't bring them into another game mode.

"Regular challenges via temporary game modes"
Also not in the game

If this was Early Access it would be fine. This is not Early Access, and I can't in good conscience suggest you buy it yet.

2023-02-23 Edit:
I was not planning on editing this review so soon, However people have already found the Lizardmen team fully complete and working in the game files. This is likely to be the team that is scheduled for release in 3 months time. This piles on the scummy tactics of the developers. To make matters even worse, they are deleting all discussion of this fact and kicking or banning people who talk about it on their official discord.

Below follows the complete original review that is still relevant.

I really enjoy Blood Bowl, I have over a dozen teams, and enough supplies to run a tournament in real life.

Blood Bowl 3 is buggy and there is no denying that. When things work great, I can play a match faster than on tabletop and enjoy that time. The single player campaign is barebones and while present, is just fights with the AI. There is no real story or compelling reason to play it, and at roughly half-way through, I don't believe you even get any rewards (beyond the achievements) for doing so, no story or customization items or anything else.

When things don't work great, you can spend hours trying to finish a single match due to game breaking bugs. I had to replay one match at least five times because the server disconnected or the game crashed, or it froze while the AI was rolling dice or picking skills. The next day, after the first patch I played two games; The first went fine, the second froze on turn 16 and I lost all the progress in that match

You can learn tactics to limit those bugs -- for example Never hit the escape menu or pause the game if you are playing single player and want to finish the match -- but it doesn't completely eliminate the issues and it's pretty inexcusable.

Additionally there are bugs in the implementation of the skills and rules, some are basic and so common that they should never have gotten past testing. For example when Changing Weather is rolled as a kick-off event and the weather result is Perfect Conditions (The most common event) the ball is supposed to scatter three times. Instead the ball lands where it was targeted and bounces once. Other skills are busted completely, like Dump-off simply not working at all. Sometimes Animal Savagery or Horns incorrectly thinks you are blitzing or blocking and makes the roll easier than it should be or gives you a strength bonus you shouldn't have. Those are the ones I personally saw, but even a brief peak at the official Discord will show even more issues.

Making matters worse are the way they are clearly monetizing on customizations, all your players looks identical with nothing to differentiate between them unless you pay money -- about seventy-five cents for a single-use most basic piece of slightly different looking appearance. If you wanted to completely customize a whole team with the cheapest items, you can easily expect to spend $45-60 to do so. There is also currently no way to get free customizations or in-game money to buy them

The customization doesn't provide any game mechanics, but it's still inexcusably greedy and when combined with the bugs. This is made worse by their "what to expect in the pre-season" article that pretty much only focused on the customization changes coming -- It's clear where their focus lies and it's not on the gameplay....

I have 14 hours at time of this review, 12 of which I played on launch day, I'll probably still play more, but Cyanide needs to fix and I cannot honestly suggest people buy this game for now.

Only a strong affection and desire to play using the current tabletop blood bowl rules against an AI will get you into the game at this time.

If you only want multiplayer there are better more functional free solutions with less bugs and more teams and if you want single-player but don't care about the modern rule set, Blood Bowl 2 is still fun.

Every time I revisit there is more added and it is a better game. I am looking forward to the full release.

Early Access Review
regular updates, fun with friends, and doesn't have the sociopathy that other survival games have.

I backed this on kickstarter and have been testing it for months, so while steam has only a few hours of usage from me, I'm very familiar with this app.

I don't normally use sounds for my RPGs because they are a huge hassle, but this tool makes it easy and the devs have shown their dedication to making it as great of an app as it can be. Even though they are releasing it for free they've updated it multiple times from it's release only a day ago. They have lots more great features planned but even without that the tool is amazing and with a price-tag of free it's a complete steal.

You owe it to yourself to try it.

Fun game that the devs are supporting for now and not trying to squeeze every possible nickle and dime from the userbase. Hopefully this is a standard that is upheld in this and future games.

I rarely 100% games. I did with this one, and still want more. I can't wait for the free updates.
