V Rising: A vampire-themed action RPG with building mechanics akin to Terraria, combat reminiscent of MOBAs, and PVP elements like Rust (though I played solo). V Rising is a vampire builder action RPG. It has building mechanics like Terraria, and combat mechanics like a MOBA. It also has PVP mechanics like Rust(although I only played single player PVE). I played entirely solo on Brutal Difficulty. Your experience may very if you play on Normal or with other people. I 100% the game and got every achievement. Through that time, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a game to play. Despite its flaws, V Rising shines as an enthralling adventure steeped in vampiric lore, offering innovative mechanics and rewarding gameplay for those willing to explore its dark depths. For me the game is a real gem and worth a try.

+ Cool vampire/gothic atmosphere and environment
+ Sun damage mechanic is unique and cool
+ Boss design is great
+ Progression is based on defeating bosses
+ Abilities are different and earned through bosses
+ Building is fun and has a lot of customization
+ Final 2 bosses and the end of act 1 boss are really difficult
+ Exploration is fun and not a chore
+ Blood mechanic is awesome
+ Jewel mechanic adds to existing spice to existing spells
+ Gear score determines your progression and which bosses are easy or challenging

- Game is balanced for multiplayer
- Wish there were more blood types and effects to the existing blood types
- Spell cooldown reduction doesn't feel like you have as much as you do

- Price is high because they sponsor a lot of streamers
- Some of the amount of time it takes to do things is unbalanced with solo play
-- Servant quests specifically
- Can be a bit grindy with solo play
- No crafting from chests (Palworld can do it)
- More base locations (probably balanced on PVP multiplayer though)
- I imagine end game in multiplayer is non existant if I am done with the game after beating the final boss

++ They managed to stretch 10 hours of gameplay into 30 without it being too different while respecting the original game
+ Cinematography is really good, with nice camera shots
++ Cinematographer should be promoted

+ Beat the game and all achievements and didn't experience any bugs
+ Optimization, no problems

- Not sure on the addition of the Whispers, so far it feel like a negative but we'll see
- Some mechanics you use once, hopefully used in rebirth more, Red's run, Barret's wall breaking

- Price is absolutely crazy, definitely only buy on sale
- Tifa is censored retro actively
- Fetch quests
-- But what's worse, the fetch quests are purposely made very tediously, they purposely make you back track to the farthest areas to complete
-- Quests are not interesting at all and none of the story from them is meaningful, feels forced into the game
-- Quest designer should be fired while the cinematographer should be promoted
- Combat is terrible
--They tried to keep turn base while also adding real time and failed horribly at both
- NPC's over all are terrible, clothing design wrong, don't fit atmosphere
-- I get the forced diversity in 2024, but these are so awkward
- Character movement gets clunky and times for no reason
- Feels like part of the game was just designed to add time to the game
-- Puzzles are boring and just add time
-- Quests are extremely tedious and just add time
-- Some of the chapters are even filler and just add time
- Not until the end of the game do you experience the part of Final Fantasy 7's story that made the game great
-- Cloud's memory loss and Sephiroth wanting to destroy the planet

What to say, it's one of the best games ever made

Everything is good about it, characters, story, music, art, everything

I really wanted to like this game. I like everything about it in theory. I like base building, I like ARPGS, and I like management games.

With that being said, I made it to the 2nd continent and ended up tapping out. It gets so repetitive its unbearable. There is no soul in the game to keep you going. If the story was better, sure. If the progression of items was better sure. If the quests changes, sure. But none of that happens.

The mechanics are definitely there, but the soul is not.

This game was fun for maybe 5-7 hours of my 12 hours of game time. So if you can pick up the game for $5 and are into these type of games, I think $5 is worth it.

But in the end, its just very a very tedious, soulless game.

Voted for it for game of the year 2023.

Not much else to say, it's a great game with a lot of choices and paths.

It's rare I play a game twice and with BG3 I did multiple playthroughs.

Great game, really enjoying it, even nominated for steam awards, but

Negative review because:

Who puts anti cheats in singleplayer games, like they don't even work in multiplayer games (you have to store values on the server)

Just because you obfuscate values, doesn't protect anything in singleplayer games. The values are still running through my computer

Instead of implementing an anticheat, you could have spent that time making the game even better, so this is a negative review for me. This is like putting denuvo in a game.
