Early Access Review
Dark and Darker is what the extraction game community especially needs right now in these trying times. Played since either playtest 2 or 3, can't remember. My friend pressured me into playing it with him back then and now I can't help but not main the game since the start of this amazing wipe. Don't listen to the reviews that are saying it's bad because of the whole free to play thing. The game was always meant to be paid for, the developers just did this system to make it easier to get people back over to this platform after its return. Onto the actual game:

It's got several classes for you to pick from, and each of them have starting stats and available gear that impact their playstyle. The fighter can either be a lightly armored high-damage swordsman or an armed-to-the-teeth plate knight capable of shrugging off the heaviest blows to the face. The barbarian is similar in the fact that he can either be a decently-armored tank that if you see a Cleric buffing, you'd best run the opposite direction. That, or he can be a new player's worst nightmare: deleting every door in his path to run down the nearest player. There's wizards, warlocks, clerics, bardsand druids, all of which are spellcaster types. Wizards deal a lot of damage: both with their staff and their spells, but they don't get to have a lot of health and they have to rest to recharge their spell reserves. Warlocks use their health bar as their mana bar, and also have spells to both deal damage and recover from it. I heavily recommend them if you're new to the game as they'll introduce you to both magic and help keep you alive. Clerics aren't super scary on their own unless they've casted spells on themselves, and are formidable in a team. They can make already tanky and already strong classes even more so. There's the bards, who can play music to also buff themselves and their teammates, and also manipulate their environment for profits. Then there's the new druids, who can turn into animals befitting any situation they're in. Keep an eye out for the fast and deadly rogues, who will kill you very quickly if you aren't wary. If they try to attack you one-on-one though, you'll probably be able to take them down.

I guess what I'm trying to say is there's a class for you no matter what kind of player or person you are. In its current state it's one of the best multiplayer games to have come out in a long time, and don't be scared of the whole extraction gameplay loop. This isn't Tarkov, where you'll eventually run out of money and guns and be forced to play as a one-time rat. You're given a basic gear set and some supplies, which can get better the more quests you do, and are pitted against a fair match of other, similarly geared players. There's no circle, it's just raw dungeon exploration.

Just give the game a shot, and pay for the $30 asking price if you really think it's for you. I heavily recommend this title to pretty much anyone, casual or competitive.
