Some people will say this game is "too short" but, for the time I got out of it, it's a fun experience with some awesome tracks and character interactions.

I made Prince Charming go on a redemption arc.

We're fixing Shrek the Third.

The world is healing.

Note : This is a cry for help.

And with just over a decade of Source 1 shenaniganry gone overnight, we find ourselves in Source 2, complete with graphical fidelity and new models, particles and textures to bring the legacy of CSGO to the modern day once more.

A shame, really, as in it's release state most of the changes were exclusively geared for competitive play and you'd be ♥♥♥♥ out of luck if you wanted to enjoy some workshop maps. Hell, even Danger Zone or War Games.

Somehow, despite the beautiful new engine and such, I just can't find a reason to boot it anymore with the new version.

Give it a year, or bully a friend into buying it for you. Unless you're a mega fan, or enjoy the streamlined obfuscated gun modification system, I don't think this'll be your magic bullet for boredom.

The game's alright, but the package does need quite a bit of refinement and addition, especially in stepping up the energy of that music. I did not feel as pumped up or engaged with this title, whereas PAYDAY 2 early on in it's release cycle had me hooked for hundreds of hours.

The grind is painfully slow once you reach level 30, requiring active focus on pushing your level up instead of just playing with what you enjoy. (Since all XP Progression for level is tied to completing challenges, whereas skills and weapons level up from the heist itself.)

And a little tip, since the AI is very aggressive but only in one local area, you can usually run away from the action and get a breather if there's the open space for it. This is most apparent on the Bank Heists.

Update : 24th August 2023

So they recently did a pass to improve the compatibility and performance on the Steam Deck. So far, based on playing for a short time period, there has been a significant improvement on the hardware.

There are still occasional dips in the framerate to 40, but now it shouldn't struggle to hold 60fps a good majority of the time, even in areas that originally made the game slow to a crawl in the overworld.

Overall, paired with changes that continue to bring it in line with the First Game, I can definitely say it's turning out better. Particularly with rolling back the torchlight breakpoints to 25 instead of 20, making things more consistent for the user.

Good job Red Hook. You're one of the only Canadian Developers I have respect for.

Original :

Until they optimise the game to perform better, that Steam Deck rating shouldn't even say it's "default graphics configuration performs well."

You'll get a mere 15-20fps at times in the overworld and even in battle it stutters and slows every time you select an ability, but at least it holds near enough 60fps for the silky smooth audio and animation sync. (Anything below and the game becomes truly painful to control.)

Otherwise the game is okay. Prefer the original still.

24th March, 2023.

Dead By Daylight announces one of the worst possible patches that would further boil the game down into a SoloQ hell without respite.
I wanted to hold out hope, being someone who's played since Bill was added, that possibly the game could climb from their stumbling gait.
That they could rise and make overall positive patches, not even outright great patches each time.
Judging from this review, you can assume they failed.
If they happen to reconsider this announced Mid-Chapter patch and somehow make something good come out of this, then I'll adjust my review accordingly.

From my experience with it, It seems to be quite good and fun to play with. Though, the fact that none of the base game trinkets are found in the DLC available to use is a bit disappointing. Perhaps that will come later, but I'd prefer if everything got patched up, such as DC issues and more.

Good work, just give it a bit of a extra polishing. Perhaps a little bit of balance tweaking may be needed too, but that's under further investigation.
