Example 1: Odd-level Gunboats
The level of botkiller weapons & aussies depends on your number of tour.
This shouldn't affect the level of other drops like weapons or hats.
But for a short amount of time: it did so anyways!

60 pairs of odd-level gunboats are known to exist, spanning 9 different levels.
Only a sixth of them are higher than lvl 3. -And only two of them are Lv.5 specifically.
Appeared: August 15th, 2012.
Patched: September 4th, 2012.


Example 2: Crafted Wrench
After the Gun Mettle update; The 'Fabricate class weapon' crafting recipe had a chance of
giving you certain weapons that should not be craftable, such as: stock weapons,
festive weapons, and achievment weapons.

Of the almost 2.5 thousand "impossible weapons" crafted: 57 Wrenches are known to exist.
Appeared: July 2nd, 2015.
Patched: July 3rd, 2015.


Example 3: Extra long name tags (2.0)
In 2021, the long patched 'extended name tag' exploit was reborn with a few changes.
This time, the character limit was not doubled, but tripled! The caveat being: it only
worked on stock weapons. *More info on the OG exploit is down below!*

It is unknown how many of these exist, could be anywhere between 200 to 2000.
One thing I do know is that the two items I have named are entirely unique! Meaning there has never, and likely will never be another item with the same name as my Scattergun or Kukri!

Example 4: Legacy-painted Beak
This item was painted way back in the day with an old Team Spirit paint. That paint has since been updated; Thus, this item doesn't have a colour of paint listed in it's description and on external sites, may show as being painted "#B8383B".


Example 5: Crafted Shooting Star
When this weapon was initially added to the game, Valve forgot to remove it from the pool of craftable weapons. However this was swiftly patched - so swift in fact that only ~200 were ever made.


Example 6: Specialized Killstreak Team Captain
During the Gun Mettle update, A couple killstreak kit fabricators dropped that had no target weapon it could be used on. These Universal killstreak kits could be used on pretty much any item in the game. There exist 14 Unique Specialized Killstreak Team Captains. 2 with Team Spirit sheen. And just one that's Level 100.


The original extended name tag exploit
The original exploit allowed you to raise the character limit on name tags from 40 to 80.
It could be used on any item able to be named. It was patched on October 1st, 2014.
Two people were credited and rewarded for patching the exploit.
A third person did report the exploit, but was not compensated.

The v2 exploit is known to have been reported by 2 people, neither were credited or rewarded.
