it's a really good game, potentially even a GOTY contender, but it's held back by it's terribly implemented AI that will blatantly cheat, are tuned to always be better than your car, don't need to slow down for turns, and will ram you non-stop. The multiplayer isn't much better either, because players will ram you off of cliffs and make you miss checkpoints, ruining your race. Until both of these issues are fixed, I have mixed feelings on the game. On one hand, everything else it does, it does great, but at the end of the day, its a racing game, and if your opponents aren't fun to race, what's the point?

I still recommend the game, but I wish I could give a mixed rating instead, because of the points made in this review. I really hope they do something soon, because I am finding myself enjoying the game less over time. It's genuinely frustrating..

This game is really cool. The combat is fun, reminding me of Vermintide's combat almost. All the different weapons and trinkets allow you to create some really cool builds. And as far as the extraction elements go, it feels rewarding and not too punishing - creating some tension but not enough to stress you out. The difficulty of your runs is highly customizable too, allowing you to challenge yourself for better loot if you wish to. I'm having a lot of fun with this game so far and look forward to continue playing, especially as new updates arrive.

i think i like this even more than slay the spire. the worldbuilding is pretty good too. im looking forward to playing the dlc when it comes out!

fix your game crapcom

I really really enjoyed this game. I 100%d my first playthrough (as much as I could do without going into ng+) and had fun during my entire 115 hours it took to do it. (not all the hours are spent playing the game however.)

Aside from forgetting to turn off the game when I went afk, a lot of hours were spent troubleshooting the game. It's no secret that this game has optimization issues. I had to install the ffxivfix mod, download and enable razer synapse+chroma despite not using any razer products, and set the game's cpu priority to high every time i launched the game in order to make the thing work right for me, and even then, many times I had to change the quality settings for particularly rough areas of the game where you can tell less time was spent trying to fix the performance issues. The game is very pretty though, even on lower settings. I want this to serve as a warning to anyone thinking of purchasing this game though. Be prepared to troubleshoot, and if you use the the 3 fixes I listed, you will find a very enjoyable game underneath. Hopefully they continue to optimize the game and this becomes less of an issue though.

Many people will also say that this game is not difficult, and to an extent, i find that to be true, although the 2 dlc have some particularly challenging fights (and some of the best.) However, I want to say, that although the base game is not very difficult, it does a very good job at capturing the player's attention. Every fight is a cinematic masterpiece, and I found myself awed every time I fought a major boss, or entered a new area.

The story is very good. I'm not sure what else to say about it. It was one of the best stories in a video games I've seen in a long while, and one I wont be forgetting any time soon. Its one of the main appeals of the game, so if you like that sort of thing, you wont be disappointed. Be prepared for long cutscenes, and lots of them though. I think it pays off, but others might think its a bit too much. To each their own.

Overall, I think the game deserves a 9/10, with a 10/10 if it fixes its optimization problems. I had such a blast playing this game, and I wish more dlc were planned, but I don't think there are. Looking forward to FF17 next!
