Dying Light has always been close to my heart. I've met so many good people through the first game, whether that be in the PVP mode or just in the story.
That's why this hurts me to post this:

This game is a downgrade in many aspects to the first, Don't get me wrong, some parts of the game can be fun, traversing a city towards the end of the game can be quite fun when you have access to the rope and paraglider. That being said I best make it concise. **SPOILER WARNING WHEN TALKING ABOUT STORY**

Pros:
The City has been thought around the use of the parkour mechanic allowing you to use either ropes or paragliders (More used in the city center) to traverse.

More interiors is a definite welcome to the series as this gives the city some more depth that the first didn't have that suit the area like pharmacies and stores to office buildings and penthouse apartments depending on the area, it feels great to run through them on the way to your destination, something I believe most if not all people desired in the first game.

The grappling hook definitely feels amazing to use, leaving potential for players to use it for traversal or for use in combat and opening up new opportunities. it's a shame it's unlocked so late into the game but I understand as its best suited towards the skyscrapers on the second map.

The City alignment leaves mixed feelings but with the survivors it becomes extremely helpful, if you fall from great heights, with enough alignment a survivor can revive you without the need of respawning at your nearest safe zone. That being said the PKs offer traps whether for day usage or night usage with pendulum traps and UV lights spread across the city. Personally, I see way more benefits with siding with the survivors.

Cons:

The combat is very much the same, every fight doesn't have a different feel or flow. It's very much wait for opponent to attack, parry and attack or a combination of dodging thrown in. It almosts feels like it's incomplete and they're planning on implementing more but didn't have time.

The Parkour, the main gameplay loop of the game feels way too floaty and slow paced, Aiden moves like he is an airbag and constantly gaining lift, you unlock the high jump which makes the problem even worse in the prologue. It completely offsets what we had in the original Dying Light where it was both an even pace with ability to speed up at parts and you felt that crane had weight to his movement, you felt friction against the floor when he slid, you felt the impact he made on the ground when he landed on different surfaces but Dying Light 2 has none of this feel.

Skill Progression: Despite it being a con here I do enjoy the Horizontal Tic Tac that was implemented and was cut content in the original, it definitely is a welcome addition, that being said the progression of skills is something that feels off. During the course of Dying Light 1, as crane improves his parkour level, You see that he has improved his speed and his animations change to suit his skill level. Aiden doesn't have this, the flow you start is the flow that is consistent throughout the entire game. I've seen people discuss about "Sprinting" and how its added in the form of dash, It's a minimal speed boost and most times unnoticable as you end up vaulting over items and losing that speed anyways.

Performance is an issue, denuvo is causing many stuttering issues throughout my playthrough, running across rooftops and stuttering, attacking and stuttering, checking your inventory and stuttering, it completely rips you out of the experience.

Considering Denuvo is an anti-tamper software meant for piracy, it should be taken off as this release of this review as cracked copies have already surfaced online, I'm in no way an advocate for piracy, I'm an advocate however for being able to play a game without my CPU usage at 100% at all times..

The Story and choices: Now this is stands out heavily for me, we were told that "Your choices matter". Well I can say from completing the game, only 1 choice ever really affects the game. And you decide this halfway through the entire campaign.

**Spoiler Below**
This choice is whether to save or leave Hakon to die when shot by Lawan, If you choose to save him you can get the "Good Ending" and if you leave him to die, no matter what choice you choose in his boss fight, you will be permanently stuck for the "bad ending"
Out of the entire game this is the only choice that I found matters, besides the ending leaves questions unanswered and feeling unfulfilled.
You either choose for Mia to be saved, or choose Lawan to be saved at the cost of the city. You don't see the impact of your actions other than a cutscene at the end of the game in the fish eye canteen where everyone is either there or not. Either way, Aiden leaves the city with or without Hakon.

It's left a bitter taste in my mouth and I wish it didn't.

The list of cons far outweigh the positives but some things can definitely be fixed whether that be with extra content coming out, perhaps the story DLCs we've already heard about much like the following closed the gap on the main story for Dying Light 1 and the list of events we've had could make a return for Dying Light 2

This game has potential to be better, but it just needs a lot of time before it can be.

Final Notes:
From what I can find in the dev menu, The Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition items anyone can access, you don't require the editions to get the items, Reload weapons can be spawned in as well as the legendary weapons, the Nightrunner potions the same as well as the crafting items.

Not to mention the first free DLC you can access already, I can see the Ronin and Authority pack but I'll update if I find more. This part isn't a dig at techland, more of a PSA if you feel as if you've been left out for purchasing the standard editions.

Coming from someone who loved both RE7 and RE8 alike, This is a terrible DLC and a way to tarnish my love for 7. You pay for Village Of Shadows (The hardest difficulty) to be available from the start, pointless as you get it from beating the game once allowing you to also have a nice backstop from your previous playthrough into the next without the need to fork over £10. Not only this but the only weapon included in this pack, The Albert, is literally the "boss in cutscene vs when you unlock him in game" scenario. In RE7 it was the one thing that killed Eveline, in here it won't even hurt a lycan. Not only this but immediately after you get the compensator or any upgrade for the LEMI, this gun is no longer needed AT ALL. Terrible waste of money. Don't get this.
