Direct upgrade over the first game in every way.

A dream come true! Hyped for future content and hoping for the Chaos Space Marine Survival / Defence game mode

Edit:
Just finished the campaign in co-op and oh boy is it a ride. I really missed linear shooters and this has scratched the itch. We did encounter a few minor visual bugs but nothing game breaking. The pacing is great and the cinematics give you the urge to give your life for the Emperor.

Easily one of the greatest games I've ever played, but I might be biased :')

Please note that if you expect a long replayability and game content, you'll be disappointed. It doesn't offer much in terms of content and I believe the live service trend of the modern gaming scene is disgusting, but I have my hopes up for the future co-op content!

Edit 2: The developers learned nothing lmao

Edit: Sony took a step back so I'm changing back to positive, but I still feel like the damage is done and the trust between AH and community is pretty much gone.

-Consistently introducing more bugs rather than fixing them and making the performance worse with every patch
-Terrible Community Managers who consistently give either wrong or incomplete information

And now they will require you to create a PSN account just to play the game you bought on steam. This wasn't at release and is an out of the blue decision for many.

There are regions who are unable to create PSN accounts so they will be unable to play the game they bought on steam.

Huge potential being wasted on terrible management

It might be one of the best RPG games out there, and it's definitely worth playing. However at its current state it feels rushed, especially the latter half of Act 2 and the entirety of Act 3.

There are numerous annoying little bugs, performance issues and some other major glitches (character quests glitching out and making them completely unable to be advanced, multiple camp scenes overriding each other and making some romance or other important scenes completely disappear for the rest of the game)

I'm pretty sure most of these bugs will be fixed later on, and the story itself is solid so I can safely say you won't regret playing the game. But maybe wait for a major patch or a discount just to be safe

I have decided to update my review. It is still negative however.

-Penances were somehow replaced with easier ones with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cosmetics. You can still complete the old ones in private matches.

-Crafting system is complete. It is still ♥♥♥♥.

-Missions are still complete RNG.

-Some weekly contracts are literally worthless.

-Weapon variety is still terrible.

-The new carnival map has stuttering issues on my 4080 & 7950X

-Skin shop is still going strong

Overall the core gameplay loop is amazing, while the rest of the game is still atrocious. If it weren't a Warhammer 40k game, I doubt people would be playing it as much.

OLD REVIEW ->

As much as I'd like to leave a positive review, the state the game is in currently does not deserve a positive review.

-The progression is boring and character specific challenges literally force you to grief your teammates

-The crafting system is missing %90 of its core functionalities at launch. This is not an early access game mind you

-The mission system is completely RNG based, meaning if you wanted to do a level 3 scripture mission, you better hope you got one in the current cycle! Or suck it up and play a level 5 endless horde scripture mission instead

-Weapon variety is lacking, the devs advertised we'd be getting around 70 different weapons at launch but all we got is "Gun A" paired with "Gun A but slightly faster less damaging" and "Axe A" paired with "Axe A but slower"

-Loot system is complete RNG with weekly shop usually being meh at best

-Performance is atrocious, huge stutters with 16 GB ram while nothing is running on the background

-Gameplay has its own issues such as literally spawning an entire horde in front of you, enemies hitting you from across the room with melee and getting stuck in things

But hey we've got a working, blatant cash grab skin shop that they didn't even mention in neither the closed beta nor in the pre-order early access beta! They even improved it lightning fast by adding a new pack! The devs seem to have realized that they can release a %40 complete product, slap a cash-shop on top and profit off of it.

In its current state, I recommend waiting at least a year for the game to mature and fix the mess it is in instead of buying now.

Brilliant story writing, amazing characters and an awesome soundtrack on top of it all. It's an excellent, comfy visual novel

An improvement over the first game. It's worth buying even without the DLCs.

Edit : Apparently the DLC prices almost tripled. Really makes you wonder if it's worth paying for 2 legendary lords

-You actually feel the hits

Cons :

A pretty good DLC that allows you to play an awesome race.

Basically :
-Their units (most of them) have vanguard deployment.
-A horde faction
-Pretty bad on 1v1 combat, depends on their campaing bonuses and vanguard deployment
-Their normal stance allows them to ambush enemies
-Horde encampment makes them invisible
-WAAAGH ! Meter from Greenskins
-A small mini-campaing where you play as the Beastmen in the Empire Lands
-An event system based on Morrslieb, where you get huge buffs/debuffs every 7 turns or so

(I didn't and won't write anything about the price of DLCs)

My opinion :

A pretty well-made DLC which will entertain almost everyone. You can buff up your ♥♥♥♥-tier units to go toe-to-toe with elite units.
The vanguard deploeyment will be your core option for the Beastmen, since your units have literally no armor, they will when you throw a rock at them.Enemy artillery should be your priority targets.
Minotours are literally devastating shock troops.Send them to a flank and they'll rip everything apart.Protect them from the ranged fire and you'll be fine.
Even if you hate CA,seeing Gorebull/Minotaurs smashing everything will entertain you.
Malagor can't fly even though he has wings.I have no excuse for that.A dude with wings can't fly.

Campaing gameplay is similiar to WoC since they are both hordes, but a few differences still exist.Mainly :
-Beastmen have the weird buffing-time turns, where you can get up to +50 melee attack for the cost of -%50 campaing movement reduction.
-Cheap upkeep lets you build a few hordes with decent units
-Beastmen can't loot/sack.They can only raze&loot, thus they can't keep grinding a same city over and over for XP
-Unlike WoC,your enemies are not made out of marauders. If you start with Khazrak, you'll face empire crossbows which will really hurt you.If you start with Malagor,Orcs and Badlands will ruin your day.
Their encampment makes them invisible, which saves lives.Seeing the AI go back when you go invisible with 3 units is a serious WTF issue, considering if they even moved for a bit they'd spot you.AI needs improvement.
Lord skill trees have LOTS of buffs for raiding/looting income. You can get a pretty high income if you can raid undisturbed, which was a problem with WoC
Be ready to play lots and lots of ambush battles. Also there is a bug where other ambush maps are not loading which actually forces you to play the same map over and over again.

Considering they don't have any artillery except for the Cygor, you'll need to build a rushing army which their units are excellent at.
Most of the low tiers are the "Stalk" ability which makes them invisible on any terrain.Use it well to ambush enemy ranged units.

Mini-campaing map is extremely detailed.Though factions and variety between them don't even exist.Middenheim or Cult of Ulric don't have any unique units.
Replayability does not exist if you are not hunting for achievements.

With the new Lore, race and a debatable mini-campaing,this DLC marks the top spot for the currently available DLC for any Total War game.I've had tons of fun with the new units and campaing is pretty challanging if you are cheesing it.

Also, don't forget that Beastmen exist for people who did not buy the DLC as an enemy faction.Though AI is pretty bad at horde management, they will still be a threat for a few turns.
