Crashes on start. Cannot get past the menu. It appears this has been going on since launch for some people, and there hasn't been any updates in over a year. So much for working on modern hardware...

Probably one of the best (if not the best) game soundtracks ever. Apparently there's an update available? Why does a soundtrack need an update?

custom scenarios can be slow to download. Ideally, they should remain cached locally (as well as descriptions...) so only a change timestamp needs to be retrieved.

ShareX now available through both steam and the Store*. Clearly they're doing something right if both have a crapload of good reviews. Either option is good for auto-updates.

*The one on windows. It doesn't seem to have another name.

This game is OK, but that's about it. Crimsonland is *far* better, though missing the walls.

Get Crimsonland instead: http://store.steampowered.com/app/262830/

I can't review this game because Windows Defender still identifies it as a virus. It's been months since I got it, and over 4 years since it was released, according to the release date listed on steam, and this isn't a difficult thing to fix, considering the game is probably just a batch file (why else would it run in the command prompt instead of something nicer and fullscreen-able? Even ConsoleZ would be better...)

A poorly designed tower defense game.

  • There's no actual strategy involved
  • Too difficult.
  • No keyboard control at all.
  • Cannot sell upgraded gun towers.
  • No fullscreen (you can maximize the window to get bars, but that's it)
  • Can't click towers to sell/upgrade them (need to drag the upgrade/sell buttons onto the towers, wtf?)
  • No speed control (booooring)
  • No pause (not even when you go to the menu)
  • For some reason, game uses 4 processes on the computer instead of 1. Wat. -> this probably has something to do with the game being a nodejs application (it uses nw.js, the nw.pak and package.nw files are a dead giveaway).
  • package.nw (can be opened with standard archive tool such as 7zip) contains files that I haven't seen used anywhere, such as some boat sprites, upgrade costs, range/speed/etc buttons.
  • Not sure, but I don't think it's likely (or even possible) to get a score below 3 stars unless you're not paying attention--either you get an easy 3 star win or it's too hard and you just lose. By the time you manage to create new towers, it's too late for them to destroy anything.
    - Exception: You can "win" the first level without placing any towers at all and 1 life remaining. You get 1 flashing star.
  • Boats float over land
  • Airplanes get stuck when there's a tower in their way
  • The game uses some kind of cd-key, but you have to turn off the overlay because the game's too buggy to let you open the overlay and dismiss the key message so you can see the game controls hidden behind it. (the sell/upgrade controls are down at the bottom right)
  • Only 3 kinds of towers, wat? Even the most basic flash games usually have at least 4 types right from the beginning.
  • Ugly low-resolution graphics. The backgrounds are blurry. The background PNG files are only 500x316px, and get stretched to whatever size your window is.
  • Towers shoot at enemies that are offscreen
    - One of the maps requires placing towers at the bottom of the screen. Most enemies attacking from that location are destroyed before you can even see them.
  • The enemies don't match (ie, the boats are all wood, but the aircraft look sorta alien)
  • Wave counter is meaningless. (see screenshot)
  • There's a giant skull shape at the middle bottom of the UI that looks like a button. It doesn't do anything. (see screenshot)
  • Onscreen text is poorly placed; the money counter isn't centered vertically, and the wave counter text overlaps. Nothing is centered horizontally to its container--it appears to be using fixed-width containers placed in specific locations, with text aligned inside those.

Early Access Review
This could be interesting, but I really have no clue what I'm doing here. Too many options, too little intro/tutorial/help (there isn't any). My village keeps dying. For example: It's not clear how chickens work; I assumed I should keep them around, and butcher them when I need more food or when there's too many, but apparently I should just butcher them all at once? And setting a level determines how fast they're killed, not how many to keep?

Decent game. Hopefully the sequel is good too. Wish I'd known about it earlier, I might have backed the kickstarter.
