First souls-like that has ever really grabbed me. 50 hours in and I think I'm only at mid-game. Normally I don't love super long games, but this time I do not mind. Fantastic exploration that is actually rewarding. Creepy atmosphere. Lots of character builds that seem very powerful (At least for PvE. No experience with PvP). This is the best open world game I've played in a long time, possibly ever. Performance on PC is only mediocre and you will almost certainly want to use a controller. Easy contender for my favorite game of the last few years.

Parkour gameplay is a fantastic followup to what made the first game great. If you like the original Dying Light then you will get a better version of that gameplay here. Coop is a blast. The map is deceptively large due to verticality. Sound is perfectly fine. It did not blow me away, but never real called attention to itself negatively. Performance could definitely be better and some bugs have been very annoying, but very little is actually game breaking. The story, and the protagonist in particular, is dumb as a box of rocks.

Overall an easy recommendation for fans of the first game. Arguably a better starting entry into the series for first time players.

Easy recommendation for anybody that enjoyed the first Half Life. Black Mesa modernizes the roughest parts of the original while keeping almost everything that made Half Life a classic in the first place.
