"It May Have BLUE Chunks!!"

Here's The Thing:
You are Nicole, a prost- I mean sex worker who gets caught up in a power struggle for the sake of her children. Now you must work the corners, that’s right all of them and put an end to being used by bad, BAD men~

! DISCLAIMER:
If you haven’t played RC1; breathe, calm your tiddies! Because the game summarizes the events of the first one anyway, while making references from time to time. Although I guess it would help, if you had actually been there. Now viewer discretion is advised; there are still flopping breasts, areola but I don’t believe there are any love scenes~

[+] PROS;

:) GETTING THAT HOOK-UP~
It’s still the same straight game of leveling up access clearances and cutting through insecure relationships. But the difficulty has had a major makeover! Whereas in RCU1 you could use your knife to completion and didn’t need to worry much. Now bullet conservation is imperative and stealth is more useful. Instant death is also now a thing, with save points being very restricted too.

Although you can either go fully clothed or nude from the get-go… You MUST earn your protagonist’s alternate outfits by solving locker puzzles instead of just giving you the advantage early on. Which is brilliant- gives a sort of integrity and tease simultaneously.

The fun lasts 3 hours or so with just one ending- I’m 95% sure of that. But I’m still missing some riddle solutions and I swear they are just leering at me~

TIPS:
1) Wait until your bat is totally wrecked before picking one up!
2) Switch your weapons and aim from as close as possible.

:) PIMP & PROPER MAKE-UP!
RCU1 was a literal linear and artificial style colony with a tube that connected the various parts. But this time it’s just one urban area- exploration feels more real with the swaying and sleazy visuals! RCU1 by comparison was more serious despite the comical approach but now it’s reversed; embracing its wild side while still being dire and feels just right.

The two titles are like night and day, if they were also codenames for prostitutes. There is a big emphasis on pleasure in blue colony and it shows in the dazzling but distastefully, loose establishments. Although I would have loved newer NPC and enemy models; the huge monster creatures alone had me open my mouth wide~

:) THE GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT…
The plot I think has been considerably improved upon for two reasons. Wait, no it’s not a setup for a punchline! First, it maintains the campiness of Resident Evil especially RE6 Leon’s campaign if you can believe it with the manipulation element. The other is that the nudity actually has context, not all of them but absolutely points for effort!

Leading lady Nicole doesn’t disappoint either much like Maria, being a robust maternal and professional figure but with a more impoverished background, which makes her more relatable. I wish I could say the same of the cast who are as one-off, skanky as they are boring with the exception of Alessa & Alma~

:) GOING ALL THE WAY FOR LOVE?
I didn’t mention horror at all in my review of RCU1 but this time I must! It’s mighty terrifying not just because of the “pandemic” but also due to the fleetingness of life as we know it. Can one get back to the norm? No idea…

I liked very much that characters still had the audacity to want to get busy but the “company” provided comes off far more sincere. So, it’s a mashup of Desperate Housewives and a True Life documentary about working women… We’re so quick to judge and bring morals into things we forget things are done through coercion and circumstances sometimes.

Lastly, the friggin’ Jurassic Park & Dino Crisis off it scared the bejesus out of me. Easily the best parts of RCU2~

[-] CONS;

:( SLOPPY SECONDS!?
I have to dock its score due to the keyboard being only partially usable in that I cannot aim or fire whatsoever. Yes, there were disclaimers on Steam but RCU1 could do it, why not this one!? But it’s not just the means of control but the literal scheme and movements remain tardy, pretty much unchanged.

In combat, the delay between standing and on all fours is quite drastic. And the margin of error in aiming is too narrow- especially when you are trying to go for the overhead light sources~

:( NO CHANCE TO FRESHEN UP…
As with the first, the overall lack of polish and rushed development is telling… I will go on to outline most of them in the bugs and nitpicks section. I just want to mention that typically, they don’t affect much of anything, but here they weighed too heavily and in-your-face, it’s hard not to be bothered.

Just a side note; I touched on this for RCU1 as well but nudity on the part of NPCs feels unearned and they’re just staring at you. Of course, it could be a clever tactic for luring in johns and it’s not as blatant as the first but still… subtlety please. Not everyone is a sex-starved zombie~

:( IN. TOO. DEEP.
I thought the story was the key two-piece holding everything together but I have got to say I’m not looking forward to anymore of the story continuation. It’s erring more on the side of disbelief and less human plot points. Frankly, I just wasn’t expecting any of it… But I’d still play the next one~

BUGS:
x Nicole’s footsteps can be heard even when stationary.
x Runner zombie types stroke out and have noticeable patrol radius.
x Some animations keep being played; glass flying from crash, “dead” zombie scare…
x Inventory items with “combine” options have no memory they’re already used.
x Death scenes for when getting caught by both raptors simultaneously spawn a mirror image.
x Killed during “put em on the wood” transition animation.
x Said transitions can trigger prematurely. So have to enter/exit twice!
x Camera goes out of whack for one of the escalator transitions.
x Enemies getting back up again and then sometimes dead when you enter/re-enter.
x Reloading will spawn you on the other side of the map for some reason and not at the save station…

NITPICKS:
~ Dialogues do not freeze onscreen enemies. So you just RIP… your clothes off slowly during small talk!
~ Continuity inconsistencies are back; ranging from constantly shifting hairdo, torn clothes that emphasize cleavage and etc.
~ Button to skip all the dialogue!
~ Many minor typos!

Last Words?
Few steps up from RCU1 in difficulty balance, intoxicating designs but trips over polish not applied right! Like a ladies’ night- good time is guaranteed but the walk of shame almost certain in bugs~

If you liked the first one and seek a slightly improved and simultaneously worse sequel? If you’re eager to see how the two are connected even further… Then RCU2 will happily take you on as a client for a few hours~

7.4 / 10

A scandalous peck goes out to Runic Codes for the key!

@Two Clicks YES!! It's unapologetic and scandalous, two unique selling points in survival horror!

Thanks so much for swinging by here~ Very honored :sacrificed::LIMBO_candle:

Ouch thats a fair few bugs but overall the game looks interesting and different. Two aspects that always appeal to me. I like the fact that the dev made a brave choice to go all the way with the vision! ;) Good review!

@AviaRa I totally feel ya. That was me too, actually it's still me sometimes... XD

But yeah, other games like Resident Evil which it took inspiration from also do it, albeit more subtly(?).

If you can look past them- there's a fairly interesting plot, drama and campiness that modern horror games are beginning to lose teehee.

And you're welcome~ Thank YOU for coming~~

Dunno, its presentation screams that it wants to attract attention of feeble-minded individuals who just want to see some booba and ass.
Not saying that the game is bad per se, as perhaps it is fun.
It just puts me off from trying it out.
Thanks for the review, though.

@FruitNDoggie In a way yeah, certainly a lot of reused things. But yes as you've said~

Honestly, the game looks cheap to me.. but to each their own.

Thanks so much for the review! I thought it was very fair. Sorry you got some bugs. I will pass them along to the developer and hopefully he can fix them :)
