This is my Game of the Year.

I highly doubt any game will be able to impress me as much as this game did. I normally don't like turned-based games due to the combat, but I pre-ordered this one when I saw you could parry and dodge. This made combat very engaging and fun because you can take zero damage if you're good enough and able to learn the patterns.

The music and sound design is amazing too and you'll likely find yourself just stopping and just listening to the music in the background when at camp. It's better than what you'll get out of most AAA games and this is from a composer that has never even created music for any video games before either.

The character design and story were great. They actually take their time, so you can get invested in the characters by telling their stories and making you care about them. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I can also see them having a few interesting games in the future based on this game and its ending.

It's a short Far Cry game based off of the Far Cry 3 map. If you liked Far Cry 3, then you'll likely like this too.

I've completed it three times now, twice on Ubisoft and again when I got it on Steam. The achievements automatically unlock if you've already completed it on Ubisoft, so that annoys some people.

It only takes about 7-9 hours to complete, but it's definitely worth your time.

There are problems with Yasuke Simulator, for sure. But it’s so fun to play, it’s telling a gripping story, and there is so much sense of progress and reward for every little thing you do that it actually feels like an open world game that’s taking its cues from a modern roguelike, or something. Every action has meaning, and the breadcrumbs that tempt you to clean up all the icons on the map are moreish. This may be one of the biggest Yasuke Simulator games ever made, but it also feels like the most well put-together.

It's a decent small game to keep you busy for a few hours. The game doesn't tell you much, just that you need to dig, there's a few secrets and stuff you need to discover yourself.

I thought the game was broken, but you need to restart to actually start unlocking the majority of achievements. A lot of them will unlock in your second run if you already qualified for them in the first one.

This is one of my favourite games and the best Far Cry I've played so far. I completed it a third time just to get some of the missing achievements I had when they added it to Steam. There's a lot of moments you won't forget.

There are some issues with the game though, considering it's 12-13 years old now. Firstly, optimisation is pretty bad, it only uses 50% of my GPU and with that I only get 100-140FPS. To get the best experience you need to cap the FPS and then use a program like "Lossless Scaling" to 2x or 3x frame gen to get proper FPS.

The other issue is that it's likely to crash on Windows 11 now. The recommended fix seems to be just to use "Large Address Aware" and to use it on both executables.

Also, if your mouse is over 1000Hz, then lower it to remove stutters when moving the mouse / camera.

It's a fairly nice little VR experience and even better if you're a fan of Psychonauts. It's 100% worth it if you're buying it on sale or as part of one of the bundles.

The only issue I had with the game are the controls. This game is 6 years old now and was created with the HTC Vive Pro in mind, especially with the controls. There's no way you can rebind them from within the game, so you need to play around with the buttons on your controller to figure out what they do and if they're usable.

The game worked well on my Pico Neo 3 Link, I just had to figure out the controls.

The game's runtime is an ideal length and will keep you playing till the end and even trying to 100% it too. It's about 18 hours if you do everything in the normal game and then another few hours if you complete the New Game+ too.

Now is the perfect time to buy the game due to the Christmas / snowy setting and due to Spider-Man 2 being around the corner. It's definitely worth the play.

Currently Aseprite can't handle mice with high polling rates (8000Hz or 4000Hz). I had to compile about 10 versions of Aseprite to find the issue, but it was introduced in version v1.3.8.

v1.3.8 added a fix for tablets and stylus devices which sets the cursor position each time your stylus gets moved. This was done to make it work when streaming with OBS.

The issue with the way it got implemented is that it now gets executed 8000 or 4000 each second depending on your mouse polling rate. The code can't keep up and then significantly reduces the cursor speed (about 2x slower).

The workaround for this now is to toggle the following option off:
Edit -> Preferences -> Tablet -> Windows 8/10 Pointer API (Windows Ink) -> Unselect "Set cursor position from stylus location"

Early Access Review
Awesome game. I've played it since release and the developers have been adding zones and more content to the game since then. It's a very fun game to just start playing for a quick few rounds to gain resources and gold to further upgrade your stats for future runs.

It'll keep you busy for hours if you want to try and max everything or even play all the higher level zones.

Game can only be played in offline mode, else it'll loop constantly if it can't reach certain urls. Not sure how this was overlooked, but will update this review when this gets fixed.

It also looks like a blurry mess on the Steam Deck, no matter how much you tweak the settings to try and improve it.
