Its a neat sorta on-rails dungeon crawler I guess? You do loops on a route and add tiles that spawn monsters, get resources and items to make you stronger, use resources to build up base camp and unlock boons and new classes to play as.

Super fast platformer.
Wacky art style that I totall love.
No real "losing" but you get a score based on combos and damage taken.

Love the old-school art style from the old cartoon.
I don't have much experience with beat-em-ups, but I enjoyed this.

Interesting game of balancing which action to take each turn to maximize your points.

Though beware Automa, the simulated player bot, it does some sketchy stuff to get points.

I can not officially recommend this game. There is plenty of content, enemies are tuned well enough now, and the combat is still satisfying.

Changed since my original review:

-New careers brought a breath of fresh air

-Beastmen are less common and with smaller hordes (albeit still a bit large imo)

Imagine Left 4 Dead, but with more focus on melee. 4 players enter a map with a primary objective to complete, fighting their way through hordes of common rats, with a few special rats (ogres, hook rats, rattling gunners, etc.).

The two things it does differently than L4D are weapons and character variation. When you beat a mission, you roll die to determine the rarity of weapon/trinket you will get. You can also pick up magic tomes to increase the number of die you get to roll. And each character gets a unique plethera of weapons (Witch gets fire staves, elf gets bows, etc.).

Very good game if you have friends to play with and can get this on sale.

The combat system is a combination of FPS and turn-based strategy like X-com. You have a certain number of "control points" to spend each turn on units. Each unit has a movement meter and can use a weapon for each control point used. So you can move a unit into position, and fire, and if there's any movement left, move them behind cover. This works better for some units, not at all for others (snipers).

The problem comes in the form of difficulty, unknowns, and RNGs.

-Some missions are easy enough to beat in one try. Others take 5+ tries because of hidden units, surprises in the form of hidden tanks, and general RNG aiming. Or the first half of a mission is easy, and the second half is super hard because of endless enemy reinforcements. Or an undefeatable enemy appears that you have to ignore. Or the fact that a certain weapon does significantly more damage than any other against a special boss, but that you could never know to use.
-You have to grind "skirmishes" in order to not be outclassed by enemies by two levels (which means a lot) at al times.
-When you aim rifle/machine gun/lance/sniper/tank gun, you have a small reticule that shots will land within. This is ok, but for medium range shots, you miss 75% of the time because even though you put your crosshair dead on the enemies' head, it will completely miss. This wastes your control point and, if the enemy is within a 'counter attack' range, will be able to shoot back at you.
-Most of the missions require you to simply capture a flag. That's all.

Despite it's shortcomings in design and thought, it's worth a play. But don't pay more than 10$ for it.

Liking the Viking theme in everything; weapons, banners, beards, hairstyles, etc. .
The combat is similar to X-com or Fire emblem, which is cool. Characters have unique abilities, like knock-back or trap-laying. You are given choices (ie. to help this person or not) which I believe may influence later events, but I'm not 100% that's the case.

The art style speaks for itself; based off of ancient Greek pottery art. Love it.

The gameplay however is akin to a 2-D game of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, as in you dodge their attacks and get your hits in. It has a cool array of weapon types (ie fast but weak swords, slow but strong axes, etc.) and enemy types to combat.

Even not on sale, this game is worth your time.

Early Access Review
It's got the cool 2D side scroller beat em up characteristics. BUT, it is in need of some serious bug fixes. In some ramps, your character is perpetually floating and cannot jump or attack. In one instance, I was on a flat roof and I was floating, unable to jump or attack. The first boss fight made up for it, through. For 3$, I will hold on to it and hope for the devs to polish it more.
