When I finished Dark Souls Remastered, I was warned heftily that Dark Souls 2 was a black sheep to its predecessor. I heard that it was vastly different, and as a result, many people found it to be the 'worst' of the Dark Souls Trilogy.

Regardless, I went in with an open mind and discovered possibly one of the best games I've ever played. Drangleic is a beautiful place, with areas that hold so much beauty that I'm scared to replay the game in case I literally cry.

The combat feels a lot more fluid than the first game, and everything feels much, MUCH, more deliberate. You definitely feel more punished rushing in to a lot of areas, and are forced to think things through, and I think that's why I like it so much.

The areas themselves are very disconnected, feeling less connected than the beautiful Firelink Shrine, but still it fits the games central themes and I can let it slide, and even find it quite meaningful.

The bosses themselves aren't much of a challenge however, so if you want a real challenge, you won't find it with the bosses in this game. In fact, most areas feel much more punishing and demanding than any boss in the game, and that's the only low note I can think of.

All in all, the game is still a beautifully orchestrated symphony that feels like an excellent addition to the Dark Souls franchise, though it feels less polished in some areas -- and the challenge that is normally looked for in these games is vastly different for those coming from the original Dark Souls.

i won't lie, i came into this game thinking "totally not my vibe, i will play this for an hour then delete it."
i have just completed it today, like a year after buying it.

i love this game more than i'll love any children i may ever have. and i will hate this game more than anything else on this planet. its an addiction, and i cant stop playing now.

play this game. you wont regret it.
