To start, Wreckfest is a completely different beast than any racing game currently on the market. Wreckfest takes time to get used to, to learn, to understand.

There is no rubber banding, with some good luck and decent driving you can wind up 30-40 seconds ahead. With some bad luck, you can wind up a minute behind with only 3 wheels left on your car. This makes things more fair, if you do really well you don't constantly have a problem of someone driving up your back end. But that said, you can lap people and be back into the pack. Or the stragglers will be constantly in front of you.

Wrecks in a race are permanent, they stay on your track and will keep you on your toes. Nothing makes you clench up quite so hard as you hit a blind corner or jump and find a car dead in you path and ready to ruin your run.

The game can be extremely nerve wracking if you are a Forza or Dirt fan. Most games these days, hitting an opponent winds up with you wrecked and them unphased. Not here. And everything effects it, your speed and torque matter. The weight of your vehicle matters. And you can reinforce every stat. Nothing feels quite as nice as slamming into someone in the lead and knocking them back to last. But it works in reverse too, I've been out in front and wound up in last at the last second of a race because of one bad hit. And it can cause you to twist with fury.

The first career set has a 34% completion. It's like 15-20 races total and 34% of players have it. I've put it down for months on end. And yet, I still recommend it. It's a type of racing missing so heavily in todays titles. And it's worth full price. They constantly update and add more content. They listen to their community, if you are on the fence. Jump down and buy it. You won't regret it.
