If I've had to give this game a rating it would be an 8.5/10.

I didn't think Capcom would gamble to release a new IP, but the game is a breath of fresh air.

The setting of being on the moon and how almost everything revolves around the moon is great. I would've liked if they expanded a bit more on it, but it was enough for the first game. The story is good, but I felt that it dragged out by the end and got very heavy on the exposition part. Capcom really has a talent of stretching some games thin by the end of them.

The RE engine works wonders when it is in a linear and closed space and the game looks amazing. The designs of the enemies and everything in general is top notch. Level design is great and reminded me of 3D metroidvania games like the PS2 era but very refined because I don't think I have seen 2 areas or rooms that look the same. There were a lot of puzzles and movement puzzles to get some extras that got you thinking outside the box to get them. I don't think I got tired exploring the levels and I felt like 100% wasn't as much of a chore as I thought it was going to be.

The combat has a bit of learning curve where you have to eventually understand that hacking is the main point of combat and not just hack, shoot, repeat. As you progress more in the game you will get more hacking modes that mixes gun combat and hacking. My main gripe is that I wanted an actual upgrade for the main weapon and not just stat boosts but the variety you have for combat builds up to have a good arsenal where you can match and mix from and adjust what you have to your play style.

The bosses where a bit lacking, except the last 2 bosses. They all tended to have 2-3 easy attacks and 1-2 hard to manage attacks. The difficulty comes in when you have to manage shooting, hacking, and dodging. Especially the last 2 I mentioned because they are more aggressive than the rest.

The character dynamic and conversations between both Diana and Hugh is great and I think they nailed how the background of Hugh is reflected in how he deals with Diana. I think there could have been room for things to do like actually interacting with the things you find in the hub with Diana.

IF you wanted to play a new game that has a lot of good new ideas I would to try this game. In the first 2 hour window I think you will get a good idea if you wanted to continue playing or refunding it.

give it a go and I don't think you will be disappointed.

It's sad to write a review about a game that shows so much potential.

Starting off, the optimization is terrible. I had to look around about a very specific issue where any CPUs that have efficiency cores should be turned off (I have a 12900k and a 3090) and the game kept crashing randomly after an update for no reason with and without mods. The game loses a lot of frames maybe while walking into a different area, too many monsters (small and big), a big monster is attacking, walking around one of the camps.

I want you to keep in mind that these are the issues that only I faced, a ton of other people had different issues that result in crashes and blue screens. The compiling shaders issue is particularly annoying since it pops up randomly even if there are no updates to your graphics card drivers or the game.

The game itself is still monster hunter. To give it some credit, some new weapons moves are clean and a lot of the weapons move sets feel "complete" or better than before. The new armors look nice and unique and the customization is very in-depth but some armors are very stiff in their customization. The decorations system little complicated with the weapons only and armor only slots and a brand new and random way to make the best late game weapons...

The "best" weapons in the game are very boring to look at but it is the closest way to make a weapon that suits your playstyle. Just make us forge our weapons at this point.

Some new monsters do look really good this game, maybe 2 or 3 aren't that impressive to look at but they are still a fun fight. The guardian monsters do let me down a little because they are not that innovative or different in a fight except for the healing of wounds and to be honest they could have have more unique mechanics, monsters, or attacks if they are guardian monsters.

Speaking of the wounds system I really do like it more than what we had in worlds (just my opinion) because it doesn't feel like I'm going out of my way to do it and it is an extension of the weapon you use instead of the clutch claw. It is also cool that not every weapon needs to use but the ones that do really makes that weapon better I think charge blade and longsword benefit the most from targeting the wounds in a team.

The actual fighting of the monsters and weapon experience in this game are really wonderful, I think the best so far since because every weapon type feels unique and complete. The monsters themselves are very cool to fight, and I get bored maybe after 15-20 fights of the same monster if looking for a specific material.

You can also carry 2 weapons now. But I hoped it would have been more dynamic because you have to get on the seikret and change it and go back to fight. They almost had it in sunbreak by changing the move sets but I think changing weapons on the ground would have been more exciting and dynamic in a fight.

Imagine your hunter hauling two charge blades or a both a lance and a gun lance! Could have been silly to look at but I think it would have been more exciting than going on the seikret and changing weapons and then going back to the fight. They could have made it that you would be punished if caught changing weapons as well.

Another thing I will give them credit for is that they really improved on everything that has to do with the locales in this game. I never thought they can add so much life to the starting desert area of the game. I do have a grudge against the cave areas of the game because they really do make me feel lost except if I'm running after a monster.

If you have a really good setup that can handle all of the new unoptimized games then you most probably can handle this.

Despite me really liking the game, I really don't recommend wilds to anyone right now. I took my time to reach to end game and I took more time to finish the weapons and builds I wanted and I still feel there could have been so much more to do.

2nd Edit: I really hope the new DLC fixes everything that has to do with the endgame. Give me the freedom to break the game with OP builds. I remember rise's DLC's late game made me have my dream build but the trade off was that I die in 1 to 3 hits if I forget that I'm a very sharp piece of paper.

This problem started with worlds, I think, where the new monster hunter game comes out and we have to wait a while month by month to get new hunts and things to do instead of 99% completed packages like before (There were DLC quests you can download for free for new armors and weapons and some of them were great in MH generations ultimate).

2nd edit: The golden edition rests my case. A lot of people bought the most expensive edition hoping to get all the DLCs in the future and to support the game, and later bought the DLCs. Now you get everything for much cheaper. I really feel extorted and punished for playing the game early.

Rise had the same issue but when the quests where all done it did show you that something will happen in a bit and they would release a new story bit and new monsters after a month tops. Worlds kept us going with free DLC and quests where you can get new cosmetics, rise did the same thing but added more to the story which wasn't that important but it did add some flavor to the game and the characters.

For Wilds; I felt like the game said "that's it nothing, the main story is over now" and everything that happens after the end game is just things that happen. Even the period between updates are a lot longer now. We didn't even have a monster hub and when it released and it feels half empty even though it's really pretty to look at. To me at least.

Worlds and iceborne had extremely lively hubs, Rise and sunbreak had small hubs compared to these 2 but they felt lively and unique in their own way. Wilds hub feels very weak and empty even with the NPCs moving around. I don't know how else to describe it but compare base worlds and rises hubs to this. Worlds hubs felt huge and you felt very small despite being the most important hunter. Rise's felt very cozy but the hubs were always lively.

Wilds at the moment feels very half baked in areas and took a lot of step backs in others, But the core gameplay loop is very solid. Like the problem isn't with fighting monsters or gathering materials. It's almost everything else.

I really hoped Wilds would have had more monsters than this starting line up. At least we got lagiacrus back.

If you are a die hard fan and can't wait to play it, then go ahead and hopefully you won't get any troubles. If you are still skeptical then I recommend you wait until they announce their usual "one-year-later" expansion and hopefully you can get a more complete and optimized experience than what we currently have, or at least a better deal.

Edit: Reworded my review and added a disclaimer that this is an old review. Planning to play it soon.

One more comment: We used to get these cosmetics and DLCs for free bruh. What do you mean I have to pay $1.5 for a pendant and $5 to change how my character or palico looks. Quest completion animation? $5? Ok...

2nd Edit and rant: I really do hope ascension fixes everything with wilds and how it it kind of a flop. Capcom made a lot of bangers since 2025 with wilds being the only exception for a lot of issues. If most of your player base experience issues with just playing the game and crashing then you got a big problem, I think Worlds and Rise crashed for me once (maybe).

I also really hope they put out all the monsters planned out all at once and not roll them out like in wilds. While having the call back monsters and new ones later.

The main reason I fell out of the game is that I don't care much about missing out because I know after a couple of months of a new monster will drop or some system change will happen. Instead of playing everything at once, It's just a loop of "we had this monster planned but we decided to release it now".

I'm getting drip fed the full game basically.

Just kickback and relax with this game.
The game play feels very natural and not too hard to grasp. My only gripe with this game is that it sometimes gets to be very slow when progressing your level but that happened to me later in the game.

Ants took my eyeball: An unexpected surprise

This game feels really good to play. It has a lot of elements from rogue like games while having its own identity when it comes to movements, enemies and items.

I have a little gripe with the bosses and the mini-bosses attack cycles but they are still challenging.

I haven't finished the game yet, I'll update my review if I have anything else to say other than it's really fun.

It's a great fishing and survival game in its own way.

It does get repetitive at times when you don't know exactly what you are doing (like me).

The game is very close to perfection in its own category. The gameplay is smooth, menus are quick, the challenges are there and you get a lot of freedom on how to finish a level. The music is amazing as well.

The only thing that could make me play this game more is a level maker or custom maps.

TLDR: Buy at half price or less after the issues are fixed

I think this game falls short in a lot of ways. In general, I would recommend this game after it becomes optimized for the PC for a quick casual play through. The story is fine because its tough to mess up with an adaptation of romance of the three kingdoms, my only gripe with the story is that some characters, other than the protagonist, feel very forced to stay relevant in the game. You are just there staring at the story and all of a sudden there is a scene with someone you forgot about and says exposition...

compared to Nioh 1 this game feels more unrefined and it had a lot of quality control skipped. For example, you can't compare gear. In a game where you can pick up the same item with different stats 5 times in the same battle. You can only check your storage/upgrade/sell at the blacksmith, in the village, after travelling with the flag, after loading the main battle, after watching the long cut scene. Nioh 1, you finished the level after the cutscene and then you get to the map and you can choose the blacksmith. In general managing and using the inventory is a big hassle.

The game is generally difficult to play, it has a very steep learning curve if you never played a souls-like, even if you played Sekiro or Nioh I still think this game would be difficult and sometimes tedious for some reasons; combat itself feels dull after you finish the game and want to keep playing. It's light attack a couple of times to build blue Qi and the heavy attack to either decrease their max Qi or they die for enemies or repeat until the boss dies. Speaking of, you feel very plain compared to the characters you fight, Zhang Liao, for example, has a sword as a base but when he summons his (animal) he starts attacking and uses the sword as a lightning spear and you just have your weapon and just standing there. Your special moves and magic suck and they got me killed way more than they did damage or were useful. I gave up on using magic after getting the fire level 40 magic move and the problem, for me, was why waste time using spells while just attacking does the same thing better.

I like this game overall, even after all of this, the level design is better than the 2 Niohs and has more memorable levels and music. Characters are sometimes very and have some weird pauses but I guess that is just the standard for ROTK games. I hoped for more characters to have a unique design but that didn't happen. Also the fact that the game stops when Shu, Wu and Wei are going to start their fights disappointed me. Hopefully the DLCs will make up for that and I hope they fix their various PC issues

My conclusion is that this game has a lot of flaws that can be fixed with patches, damage numbers need to be fixed, stealth is messed up, both damage and detection. Magic is too risky while having negligible damage and very short buff duration. Using your (Beast) is very meh compared to both Niohs, no spectacle and you don't feel like you just summoned your (doragon). I think this is what happens when you make a monster hunter like game and a souls-like at the same time.

Positives of the game:
-Putting down a flag revives your bros, fill your hp and dragon tears, and doesn't reset enemy spawns until you bow to it. And, it saves the game so when the game crashes you don't have to do everything again.

-1st Lu bu fight

-You are the only person in 2nd century China able to deflect attacks, until....

-You are suspiciously silent.

-You are the 4th sworn brother.

-The villain is like eggman but he is not obsessed with a blue hedgehog.

-Kodamas are now demon pandas that always give you an accessory even if you give them a 4 star +9 weapon

I give this game a eπ=π.e2

I bought this game because of a sale and never bothered to touch it until recently.

I found this game to be lovely and unique in terms of the simple but lovely graphics, different gameplay styles, perspective, puzzles and especially the story were I thought a number of different scenarios and lore about this game and I was proved wrong with every guess which kept very interested with every minute I played.

play this game if you wanna experience something refreshing, sad and hopeful.

I was very skeptical when I bought this game, thinking it was a left for dead clone for the middle ages.
But I was actually very surprised by how this game handles pacing, experience, enemies and a lot of other things and especially the loot boxes and how the crafting system works. It was a bit confusing at first but you get used to it a couple of times.

The base game itself is very fun but I don't recommend buying the expansions until you know you want more.
