A truly amazing experience, and worthy sequel to the original.

The standout points are obviously the narrative and presentation. The story, while certainly not as good as Senua's Sacrifice, is still amazing and worth the price of admission alone. I would go more into the story, but I don't want to for fear of spoiling the best thing this game has to offer. If you enjoyed the narrative of Senua's Sacrifice, then I believe you'll enjoy the narrative of Senua's Saga as well.

The game truly shows the power of the Unreal Engine 5. Everything looks like a cutscene, in a good way. Despite the game's cutting edge visuals, my mid/high-end PC hardly ran into any performance problems outside of a few stutters when the game changed areas, so props to Ninja Theory for putting out a fully working PC port at launch.

The game has some problems. The combat is extremely simplified compared to Senua's Sacrifice. The enemy variety is lackluster, and you'll never fight more than one enemy at once. The melee button is removed, leaving you with just a light attack and heavy attack in terms of combat options. This wouldn't be so bad, as the original had quite a few combos you could pull off with just these two attacks, but the combat feel very automated, so its hard to tell if you're ever actually puling off a successful combo, or if there even are combos. Even on Medium difficulty, the enemies die fairly quickly, so you're often better off wailing with light attacks than trying to do a combo by tossing in a heavy attack. Parrying also feels more inconsistant than in the first game, though maybe I just didn't get the timing down.

Even despite my problems with the game's combat, I should clarify that I adored this game and recommend it for someone looking for a story-rich experience. Even if its not the 10/10 that Senua's Sacrifice was, a 9/10 should still be commended for a follow up to a masterpiece.

Fast paced action, and filled to the brim with charm and love for the genre. The game features an outstanding soundtrack, and an incredible arsenal of weapons, each of which is super fun and satisfying to play around with. The only criticism I would have is that the game goes on a little long, as some levels can go from 30-40 minutes each in playtime, but that isn't to say I didn't enjoy the ride the whole way through.

Requires a PSN sign in for a game on Steam? Its a no from me.

Accidentally passed the two hour mark trying to launch the game and going AFK so no refund for me. No matter what I tried (I searched every piece of online info I could find) the game will not go past the start game option, and will eternally load on the first loading screen saying "Just a sec..." until it disconnects from the WB servers. This loops repeatedly. Do not buy this, its unplayable. Literally.

I'm not reading a text document to play a game with Minecraft combat.

Stutters galore, even with hardware more powerful than the recommended. Constant crashing. Save files can become corrupted at random, or due to a crash while fast travelling. Opening the game requires pressing "Play" multiple times due to it having to launch through EA's crappy launcher.

The game itself is solid, and maybe even an 8 or 9 out of 10, but I adamantly believe that NO ONE should buy this game in its current state. Let EA count their losses at releasing an unoptimized, uncompressed, 70$ mess. At least until they can put out patches that fix the endless problems with the game's performance.

After 5 days, the only patch they've put out has done nothing to alleviate the problems the game has. It will likely be a month or two before the game is legitimately playable, at which point the damage will have already been done.

EA, if you're expecting a premium price of 70$ (or 90$ for the deluxe) from me, then I expect a game of premium quality from you. This is unacceptable for a company that charges as much as you do. Do better.

Edit, June 23rd 2023: It has been 2 full months since release and the game's horrendous performance still isn't fixed.

Despite trying every setting in the game and being WELL above the recommended system requirements, the game will not run above 40fps with major stuttering whenever there's any particles or NPCs on screen. Sometimes it'll stutter even without those, that's just the most noticeable. A patch has gone out apparently, and it seems some have had problems fixed by this, but its done nothing for me. Despite the game itself being alright, I can not recommend buying this product for ANY price until substantial fixes are made.

Really feels like a Sonic game with heart again. A very fun open world with plenty to explore and collect, a good story with characters actually taking the situation seriously, and phenominal music. The pop in is of course distracting, and some cutscenes have some lackluster presentation, but aside from that this is easily the best Sonic game in over a decade.

The game is fun for fans of other LEGO titles, and especially fun for Marvel fans who will recognize the more niche characters this game has to offer. There are times where the 100%ing can become a bit of a drag with samey side missions, but if you're up for that kind of gameplay then its all good. I also had issues getting the game to run right due to some compatibility issues, though I'm not sure if everyone will have those issues. Aside from those technical issues though, good game with a fun hub world and fun levels.
