At the time of this review I have completed the entirety of Firewatch in 22 hours, I held off writing a review until I completed it in its entirety including the "Free Roam" and "Audio Tour". I couldn't just write a simple review saying something tacky like "Oh I love this game" because I feel it deserves more, so I'm going to try and review a couple aspects of this game in separate sections.

Set the stage

Firewatch is a game set in Shoshone National Forest in the state of Wyoming and takes place in the year 1989!

Main Playthrough

The main playthrough was gorgeous! The graphics were stunning, I couldn't get enough of it! I took full advantage of my ability to screenshot so I could keep those beautiful photos forever. The dialogue was hyper-realistic, I could see this actually happening in real life. The game also includes many options for dialogue with thousands and thousands of different outcomes making your experience in the game truly personal as you develop emotional bonds with the dynamic characters. The controls can be a little strange at first but you get used to them relatively quickly, the game is mostly an adventure style type game with a world roaming aspect, with a bunch of little secrets for you to find on your own! The music (composed by Chris Remo) goes great with the locations and situations they go with. Chris did an amazing job on the OST and I thank him for these beautiful pieces.

Free Roam

The free roam is unlocked after you have completed the main playthrough at least once, its not much other than what it says with having full access to the world. The main purpose of the free roam is to discover places you may not have checked during the main playthrough. However, in the free roam you have what seems to be a Sony Walkman that starts off with 1 cassette tape with 4 of the songs from the games OST, you can accumulate more cassettes by roaming around the world searching for them with there being a total of 20 songs and I believe 5 cassettes. Other than that there's not much to do in free roam.

Audio Tour

Finally we arrive on the Firewatch audio tour which is a developer commentary version of the main playthrough with little booths scattered throughout the game as you progress through it with cool facts for how they made the game, came up with ideas, as well as little parts of the map with added props where you can test cool features. I highly recommend you do the audio tour if you plan on purchasing this game, it would be a huge waste to not include this in your playthrough of the game.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading through my review, I hope I convinced you to either purchase this game or bring attention to some parts of the game that you previously did not know about and might wanna go back and check! Once again thanks for reading my review, I really appreciate it!!

This game is by far THE best indie game I have played so far, im currently on my 2nd playthrough trying to get the many possible endings. You have many options to choose from with different paths resulting in many different outcomes which adds to the joy of playing along with the many hidden easter eggs and achievements. I also get sort of a poptropica vibe if it means anything to the people who read these.
It also brings out many emotions that I've never truly felt in a game, making this the first game ive sorta-kinda cried for. You develop a bond with the characters that you wont find in any other game. I happen to buy this on sale but I would buy it at fullprice as well, this game is worth the 11.99/19.99 you may spend on it which is why I 100% Reccomend.

P.S
Its filled with so many bangers that ive started making cover songs for them
(Good soundtrack)

Early Access Review
I honestly love this game, its a really nice way to pass the time! It has daily leaderboards, an awesome soundtrack and to top in all off the vaporwave aesthetic really adds to the quality! 9/10 Great game
