Switching between two characters and the train level are the highlights of 0 for me. The inventory management and lack of item boxes are really what killed my enjoyment of this entry. The level design otherwise and the monster/boss design just don't live up to the standards of the original RE, especially the remake. I'd recommend playing RE1's remake instead of this, it's much more enjoyable.

FF 2 isn't as bad as I had heard, but I'm not sure I'd call it that good either. The dungeons are kind of irritating to get through unless you use a guide to cut down on the tedium of checking every single door often leading to an empty room with nothing of note inside it. The boosters are also vital to the experience due to the high encounter rate, I don't think I would have enjoyed this game at all if I couldn't turn off enemy encounters sometimes. The boosts to spell and attribute leveling are also nice bonuses.

After finally falling in love with a SaGa game for the first time after trying multiple times to break into the series (Romancing SaGA 2: Revenge of the Seven is amazing), it was kind of fun seeing where several of the systems originated from. They're very barebones and lacking in depth here, but you can see where the SaGa series flourished where this game crawled. If you buy this in the bundle of 6 games, at least give it a try!

Metal Slug 2 is a good side scrolling shooter but I don't like it as much as the first Metal Slug game. It isn't as charming or as fun, with some annoying segments. That said, it's hard to not recommend any of the MS games.

Cocoon is a good puzzle adventure game but I think it's a bit overhyped. It might be from the lead gameplay designed of Limbo and Inside but it isn't really comparable to those two games. The switching between orb worlds mechanic is cool, though, really unique idea with how it's executed.

Pony Island is fine. I don't really get the love for it, but it's a decent experience. It's a meta narrative and if you've read the steam description, you'll get the whole gimmick from the start.

I kind of hate Lorelei and the Laser Eyes but it's also great and one of the better puzzles games I've played, plus it's certainly among 2024's best games. The puzzles get convoluted and confusing, and simultaneously make you feel like a complete moron and a genius. A lot of the puzzles and solutions are randomized too, so guides are more like hints than anything. If that's a deal breaker for you, stay away, but if not, then you should jump in and see just how crazy some of the solutions get. The story is esoteric and impenetrable for most of the run time even if you can see the twist coming the moment you open one specific door like a quarter of the way through the game. the menus taking an unnecessary amount of time to go through because you only get one button. Once a certain point is reached, an enemy type starts spawning and chases you down, asks you a question you have to meticulously scan a room for, and kill you if you get it wrong, which could mean losing tons of progress since there is no autosave. Movement is slow until you get an unlockable option to temporarily boost your speed until you need to urinate.

And yet there's something that drew me into the game and made me want to keep going. I avoided a lot of the side content until much later in the game, but even the side content has some compelling logic puzzles. The game asks a lot of you, too, and honestly made me feel like I learned new things, even if those things are arguably kind of useless in real life like astrological signs.

Also the two vocal songs are bangers.

Really fun and solid fast-paced FPS game inspired by 80s and 90s culture and anime. It's definitely worth one playthrough but I can't recommend going through it more than once since the randomly generated levels aren't as robust as other rogue-lite games.

Metaphor is great and it'll probably be even better when Atlus inevitably rereleases it as Metaphor Platinum or whatever they'll call it. It's not a flawless gem, and the final third or so feels rushed and weaker than what came before. Like there's a clear point where the team kinda gave up on dungeon design after going all in on one really long and good dungeon that serves as a callback to another Atlus series. But the themes, main story, characters, and music are good enough that I think the weaker sections are worth overlooking. I'm glad that the team decided to avoid the tired high school setting for this game, and a lot of the usual questionable parts of the modern Persona games are absent here.

Also don't let the time constraints trick you into worrying too much. As long as you're diligent enough, you'll have plenty of time at the end of the game to max out all of the follower links. Honestly, it's kind of too much free time and I had to waste like two weeks or so at the end of the game bathing instead of doing content.

The House in Fata Morgana is my favorite visual novel and one of my favorite games in general. One particular character arc deeply affected me and was incredibly moving. I don't really want to say much about it, though, because it's best experienced with little knowledge going in. Just stick with it, the first door is the worst door and they all improve from there.

Easily one of the best detective games I've ever played, not quite on the level of something like Obra Dinn, but high up there. Exploring the town and actually solving the mystery feels rewarding and satisfying. The spooky atmosphere helps, putting you slightly on edge. The end sequence, of the few things I wasn't a big fan of, was altered in patches too, so there's no reason not to recommend The Painscreek Killings.
