Enjoyed this game. If you enjoyed Katana Zero, then you'll enjoy this. Keep in mind this is a pilot/demo for the game and there'll be more to come.

*SPOILER-FREE REVIEW*

The friends of Ringo Ishikawa is a game that's about Japanese delinquents trying to hang out with each other before they graduate high school and set off for the future. Basically a coming-of-age story. You play as Ringo Ishikawa, the leader of your school gang and student of a high school. In the start of the game, your in school talking to the principal. Your principal tries to talk with Ringo and his friends about their education and if they (mostly just focusing on you) end up trying to get your act together then of course you won't pass high school. The game offers you two choices. One of them being you just ignoring what the principal says and just still being your average delinquent or you try to get your act together and start getting better grades. Something to note is that the game gives you some choices of what you want to do like say if you're already cool with another gang, you have the ability to ignore that truce and just out right start trying to beat them up out of nowhere. Though of course there's consequences and them being any group that you were cool with, but ended up breaking that trust, they'll now start trying to target you in the streets whenever they appear in a area you're trying to go to. There's other choices, but I'm trying to keep this review spoiler-free.

During your playthrough of the game, you get to a little bit of info about Ringo Ishikawa's friends (Shiro, Ken, Goro, Masaru). Not just information about them, but also a few other characters whenever you try to talk to them. The game has a routine, since you have you're cycle of days, school, and having to figure out some way of getting money to eat and buy other items. The routine is sometimes annoying especially if you're trying to trigger events or hunt for achievements. If you're used to routine/life simulation games, then you'll be fine with the game. The areas and activities that you're able to do are ok. Not good or bad, just ok. You'll still be able to get something out of it at least.

My playthrough of the game was fun though it felt stressful at times. I felt like I had to hurry up and figure something out, before events were supposed to happen after given warnings. I picked up the game, not just because it was an indie and it was an RPG, but I enjoy games or even stories that involve delinquents, preferably Japanese delinquents since I find it interesting. If you're a fan of the whole Japanese delinquent genre, RPGs that have school settings, or even beat 'em up games then this might be for you. I might do a second playthrough of the game since I wanted to try and grab the achievements, but couldn't during the first playthrough.

My overall score for the game is 9/10.

Katana ZERO is a pretty fun game with a good story and soundtrack, especially good combat. Just like what many players are saying, this game is short, it's so short that it'll take a few hours to complete (depending on how well you play I guess I should say), though it took me longer I'll admit. Just because the game is short doesn't mean it's not a bad purchase or anything, since once you complete the game it offers two modes: Speedrun and Hardmode. You'll at least get some more hours into this game especially if you're a completionist and feel you HAVE to get EVERY achievement on any game.

Another thing to note is this game will be getting DLC next year since the developer confirmed it himself so if you were hoping if the game was going to have any more to offer after you completed it in total, then don't worry you'll have more content to play soon.

I guess I'll mention this but this is probably the first game I'm giving a serious review about so I'll just give my honest opinion about it and try to not sound like I'm hating or anything like that.

For a game like this, I'm not sure what to say really. I'm not trying to come off as a hater or anything and believe me I love both Marvel and DC from comics to movies to their games but this game just doesn't get me interested more than I thought it would. I tried to play more to understand why other players played 100 hrs to even a 1,000 hrs but this game just isn't really fun to me at all, heck I can only last probably 30 mins to an hr of playing the game a day or so.

I like how there's a bunch of heroes that are coming out and a few that are in that we can play as that may be our favorite heroes from Marvel especially having some of them as our assist characters (some that shouldn't be but hey just gotta deal with it) which is interesting. The game gives you a chance to try out the heroes until Level 10 so you don't waste money on a hero that you end up not liking which is great. The grinding to get a character is long but understandable and better than leveling up a character quick just like Quicksilver. The missions are alright, I didn't see myself having so much fun but then again I didn't play really far ahead like I should've tried to.

Overall I think I was expecting more of a Marvel Ultimate Alliance feel since I grew up playing the game like a lot of other Marvel fans have too. I'll probably end up coming back to the game later on in the future or even soon but right now I'll just probably stick with buying MUA and MUA2 later when it comes on sale and play the hell out of it.

This game makes me dream of becoming a bartender. I want to now start mixing up random drinks and pretending or being serious serving drinks to friends or random strangers.

Like seriously, I wanna know how to make some of these drinks that are in the game.

Great game especially if you love action. By the way I'll just say this as a serious note in the review: The jiggle physics are astonishing

Early Access Review
An interesting game for a Early-Access game. It's certainly like Hearthstone but with dice. I recommend picking it up since the developers of this game is focusing and updating the Single player mode before they even try focusing on a Multiplayer mode.
