So I have been playing that game for quite a while now.
To summarize - it is fun. It gets a bit in that niche of valheim with some easy programming. It's easy to learn and you play through it even on harder modes quite quickly - but for the cost you will be having a good amount of fun, so it's all in all a good deal and a good game.

Critic:
1. Dodging is f'ed up. When you are in an animation and hit that CTRL key to dodge, your character will not dodge but finish the animation first. Which is a huge problem in a any combat. You die so needlessly while hammering that key which won't work. If you press that Key you should cancel whatever you are doing and dodge instantly. Same goes for blocking - else the combat system doesn't work.

2. The big frogs in the Samruai Isles are always stuck in their rooms because they are too big for the doors to go through. Everyone of them I encountered inside was stuck this way. I was wondering, did nobody ever test those places? How can you not notice that?

3. The programming is a bit annoying at times. If you want to copy a line it copies all the text below it if you paste it. When you then try to move the top line from that code block you again move the whole block. You have to go through it and delete all the rest before you can reuse the first bit of code. It's tedious and impractical.

4. I would love the possibility of functions/methods - like a simple loop you define at the beginning of your script and that you can call from everywhere. This would clean up scripts massively and allow for less repetitions and more readable code.

5. All regions need more assets and more variety in monsters. At the moment they all have like 5-7 different kind of monsters and like 5-7 different kinds of POIs. It's cool when you enter a new zone but it gets repetitive really really quickly. Like 1-2 hours in a new zone and you saw enough.

6. I would've loved for the dungeons to have some interactive elements. Like a trapdoor, a secret wall, a switch to open something etc. They get boring so damn quickly.

That's just from the top of my head, I still recommend that game, it's well done, I just hope they add more content and fix the combat.

Cheers

If you are looking for an ark-like game that focusses on pirates and ships this game can be a lot of fun. We enjoyed the base building, treasure hunting, resource management and ship building. Taming, exploring and fighting was also a lot of fun.

That being said the endgame is not there and the game gets repetitive.
According to me you can get a solid 232 hours out of this game before you will uninstall, for 9 bucks that's not too bad.

I have been anticipating the release. I've played a lot of Heroes of Hammerwatch, Hammerwatch 1+2. I was really hyped.

This game is good, the big problem however is that it is really short. Most of the assets seem to have been reused from Hammerwatch 2 so I expected a really long run, but we kind of finished it in about 18 hours? We were close to finishing it earlier but wiped in the last portion of health of the final boss.
I know it has NG+ and so on, but I really expected there to be more content, more levels, more bosses etc. I was harshly disappointed when we killed the Avatar and the game was over.

Sure we will play again on NG+ and we will play other classes, but I feel 2-3 more bosses would've done the game very well.

That being said, the game is great and fun and the new features are cool. Well done!

This game is really fun. I played on a private server with my wife. We changed the settings to let our main characters be able to gain up to 125 in each profession. Thus we didn't need to switch to other tribesmen anymore. This was more the way we like to play such survival games. The game has a lot to do, we started making the tedious stuff more managable once we were done with like half of it. Increased XP gain, mining etc so we didn't spend so much time farming anymore and still got 100s of hours out of it. We are not yet done, still some bosses to go and dungeons to explore.

One downside for now are the dungeons, they are very repetitive and the enemies inside are almost all the same. However they are only a part of the game and the other areas are really interesting so it's not much of a problem. Would be cool though if the devs add more enemies of different kinds for dungeons and more challenging riddles.

However I played it now for ~230 hours and I still have maybe 30 hours to go till I call it quits. And this all without even doing any part of public multiplayer gaming, which opens a whole new world (of pain :-D) with raiding, defending, clanwars etc.

Since we won the PSN war, I am giving it a positive review again.

Game is fun, hopefully they don't try stuff like this again and instead focus on improving it and adding content.

I tried the demo this free weekend and holy smokes, does this game run slow. I really love Ark, it is one of my most played games and I was excited for Survival Ascended. The bad reviews and the Server dictatorship however prevented me from trying it.

I went in and had like 14 frames. I have a geforce 2800 which is not the newest card but i can play bf2042, rdr2 and mw3 without any issues. I thought ok let's see what the maximum frames is I can get out of this and put everything to the lowest setting and... 24 frames.

Nope, sorry there is a lot of work to be done in optimization.

I am a big fan of good RTS games. I played the whole lot: Starcraft, C&C, Warcraft, AOE etc. all to a big degree.

I played this game in an old version a long time ago and it was fun. Now I reviseted and boy did they change a lot. I thought I just smash through it, deciding to play on hard as a veteran, however some maps especially later in the campaign were soo touch and all the playthroughs were in an older version and waaaayy easier.

So if you are into good and challenging RTS, go grab this one and try to beat the campaign on hard, or even expert. It will be fun!

This game is amazing.

I first thought it would be some sort of either xcom or the recently released Starship Troopers RTS. It is however neither... and both.
You can choose your approach, be quiet and sneak or go head on against the xenos. However the last one is very dangerous because even though you are a squad of tough marines, it is mostly better to avoid xenomorphs if you can, as when you encounter them, they alert the hive and more may be coming but also your stress level increases which can, if it gets too high, have negative effects on the marines.

You can weld doors and create shelters to rest and reduce the stress but at some point you just want to pull out that squad and hit the same mission another day. You don't need to finish it in one go, everything you do like welding, building motion scanners or opening doors, stays that way when you return.

For the story - I am a big and long time alien fan, I watched all the movies multiple times and also listened to each and every audiobook available on Audible (there are a lot already, really can recommend them). The story is hitting exactly that alien vibe that books and movies give and you get really curious about what happens next.

The grafics are ok, one thing that I really find weird is that the outlining of the marines if you hover over them is very pixelated. It feels a little cheap and also some of the details are sometimes a bit vague when camera zooms in. However the videos are pretty good and the all over athmosphere is very good. I am generally very satisfied with the graphics.

If you are an alien fan this is a must.
If you like rts/tactical shooters this is still a solid game for you.

I can recommend it even at release price.
