I've been a gamer since I was four years old playing Doom on an Acer with Windows 95. Rather than looking forward to newer games, I often find myself exploring older games I have not played, and telling my friends that spending $60 on the next COD game is a waste of money when you can buy TES III Morrowind dirt cheap on sale, or the original Doom games, or Duke Nukem 3D. It is sad to me that so many gamers nowadays barely know these titles and many more. This is not to say new games aren't good. There are plenty of good newer games that I own such as KSP, Civ 5, the Just Cause series, and a host of others, but most games seem to have forgotten the challenge aspect that older games have. Remember when buying a game did not guarantee that you would beat it? I still can't beat Knee Deep in the Dead on NIGHTMARE! mode! I just hope that other gamers will come to realize some of the older games are still great (heck, right now I'm playing through the Destroy All Humans! series on PS2), and will check them out before spending $60 on the next big AAA game that has a bad PC port and is forgotten next year due to its successor in the line of casualizing gaming for the lowest common denominator. (Not that I'm against easy games, but I like games that have a VAST array of difficulty. Buy POSTAL 2. You'll see what I'm talking about.)
