the game is amazing, but the people are some of the most idiotic monkeys to ever walk this earth. if you want to play ranked, just find 2 people who can at the very least do simple addition and you will be above 90% of the player base.

This game has so many flaws that it's probably a good idea to get the positive things out of the way first. Good lighting, nice atmosphere, interesting sound design. Okay. The way you move in this game just gives me headaches. Everything is so unbelievably slow. You can barely see around you, the flashlight doesn't help while runnig. So you are either slow or blind, which is really annoying. I know it's probably a part of game design that makes you feel claustrophobic, but it just doesn't work that well and just ends up being lame. For a horror game, it's barely scary at all. Few highlights are the people in the kitchen that start walking towards you and the hand sticking out of the door in the beggining. The puzzles are primitive on one hand, but absolutely unintuitive on the other. That's a really weird combo. Why the hell would you hide a clue in a drawer, if all the other drawers are impossible to open? Took me good 10 minutes to find the yellow clue, and even that was on accident because I just never tried to open another drawer, since none of the other drawers in other rooms were openable. This game was a torture to play, not in a good way.

(TLDR at the end)

It would be great, if it weren't so trash.

The atmosphere is great, I love it. The sound design, the art, everything seems to be perfect. Until you start to progress further into the game.

The Crater level is confusing, there are lots an dlots of objects that seem to suggest you should do something with them but they actually do nothing. Took me an hour and a half to get to the bottom of the map, to get the God Power.

The bosses are one big RNG hell. They have somewhat recognizable patterns so you kind of make up the strategy in your mind but you will get f#cked over by random spawns every time.

The last boss - Odin - runs like a ♥♥♥♥♥. Every time you whip out your hard attack, which, by the way, takes ages to deploy (dude, it is literally 2.5 second between you pressing the button and her hitting the target, it's insane, but i guess you can kinda get used to it). Every time you think you are going to hit him, he moves away and since you run slower than a snail, you might just be able to get to him by the time he does another 2 attacks.

Idk, I guess my problem is that there is no "proper" way to do things, due to RNG... and THAT's a really bad game design if you ask me. The game basically baits you into constructing a strategy and then viciously crushes it with random spawns with a ♥♥♥♥♥ grin on its face. Sorry, not sorry.

5/10 too ̶h̶a̶r̶d̶ tedious and annoying... But hey, it's kinda pretty.

TLDR; ♥♥♥♥ off, that's like 12 sentences... Read it! If you are not as patient as to read 12 sentences, then don't even bother playing this game you will get a f#cking stroke.

PS: I don't actually regret playing this game, but the nerves I got from playing it could easily equal to the montly stress that I get from competitive CS:GO. And I play a lot.

The Deed is a simple, short game with a nice haunting atmosphere. You have couple of objects to collect and use to make the ending of the game different. I, as a minimalist absolutely loved the concept of this game.

The art is nice, but could be better, especially the pictures of characters that look like they are all in their 20s. When the player is supposed to go in the room that is closer to him, there is no door or sign of an entrance visible on his side, which is kinda difficult to come up on your own the first time.

The music loops in a way that there is a sudden cut, which kind of breaks the atmosphere a little. Otherwise, the music and sound itself is good, I loved it.

It's also kind of annoying to replay the game over and over, since you can't properly skip the dialouges without risking doing something you didn't want to. I would suggest to make separate keys for skipping the dialoge and actually confirming an answer.

These things are really just small details that can be fixed to make the game absolutely perfect. The game is really nice and I enjoyed it.

SCORE: 7/10

I feel like the time has come to do a more in-depth review of this game, since I've accumulated almost 800 hours of gameplay over the last years. So, here we go...

GAME INTERFACE

The game interface is very user frienly. Everything seems so obvious, that there is almost no struggle possible. The ONLY "struggle" I had was when I've tried to properly set up a private lobby without using my mouse, since I've already adjusted to play with keyboard-only and therefore switching to my mouse felt kind of cumbersome and ineffective.

The controller support is amazing, I have one of the cheapest gamepads available on the market and yet, the game recognizes it instantly and promptly switches between mouse/keyboard and gamepad, depending on the source of input.

One thing is kind of shame, in my opinion, and that is the fact that you cannot reach a player's steam profile without adding him. There is not much reason behind it, while it is true that this way, the gaming experience feels a bit more discreet and safe.

GAME MECHANICS AND DESIGN

It is really hard to sepparate the design from the mechanics, for it being so entagled in the first place.

The animations match the movement in a way that it almost feels like you're becoming a part of the game while playing it (This is actually only half true, but i will cover this further in the "Performance" category).

The sounds are so greatly recorded/manufactured(?) and synced up with the animations of attacks, that you can almost feel every hit you deal to the opponent. It really has a nice feel to it.

The art style, combined with many cross-overs and lores for each legend add to the atmosphere and overal gaming experience. You might pick a legend depending on their stats, their looks or their lore. You can play as a primal warrior, wielding a primitive spear and hammer, or embody a demon possesed detective armed with guns and mighty gauntlets and... so on.

The spectrum of weapons and legends is bright, getting brighter every few months when a new legend is introduced. As of writing this review, there are 12 weapons and 45 legends to choose from, each equipped with a uniqe combination of the 12 mentioned weapons. Every weapon has it's own mechanics, it's own ways of approach, spacing and punishing.

The balance of this game, however, is a great controversy.

A years long fan, who has hunreds, even thousans of hours in the game would probably tell you that the game is fair and well balanced. "Your task is simply to master every weapon and learn each of it's mechanics to become a good player." Unfortunately, those players make up only a small portion of the active playerbase. Other players would tell you that some weapons are overpowered, while some feel almost useless. Why? In my opinion, it's all about intuition. The weapons that have reduced movement potential compensate with a higher range of attack, for example - Lance. Lances moveset consists mostly of horizontal movement with a long range of attack, making it tedious and annoying to play against while really easy to wield. It is easy to play but hard to counter, not becuase its unfairness but simply becuase the moveset of the weapon matches the intuitive sense of natural counterplay. Basically, everything you've learned so far from other weapons and how to counter them, doesn't at all apply to lance. The ways of countering are certainly counter-intuitive.

There is plenty of gamemodes which are fun, but I will only cover one of them, since the rest is almost self-explanatory once you launch the game yourself. (If you are specifically interested in ranked, then yes, it has ranked and yes, it can be toxic in many occasions.)

The offline training mode let's you try out any legend with any skin and color combination. It lets you practice against a bot of which behavior you can easily program yourself in the game, without needing a complex tutorial. This makes it easy to practice specific scenarios and combos. The only thing I'm missing is the possibility of your friends joining the training room, for possibly practicing 2v2 combos and so on. As of now, the only possibility to do this lies in making a private lobby with an extra controller that you leave on the side of the table and pretend that it is a bot. However, there is no way to program its behavior, since it's an actual player. There is also no option to set an infinite time in the private lobby, so while you can practice for hours in the solo training mode, you can only pratice for a maximum of 15 minutes in the custom lobby.

PERFORMANCE

While I said in the first category, that this game feels really nice, it is a sad truth that there is a tedious process behind achieving such an experience.

The game, while it has seemingly simple 2D graphics, struggles to run consistently across the PC platform, including high-end computers, while you would swear this is the type of game you could play on your toaster; while the toaster prepares your breakfast. The game runs at 60 frames per second, but sometimes randomly drops to 40 or even 30, making it really tedious to play and almost impossible to enjoy, especially if you are a player with high standards, who likes their things all sorted, perfected and customized. Even if the game runs smoothly, a monitor with 60Hz refresh rate will always be suffering from an input lag. Playing like this feels like the player model drags behind your actions, which makes it really hard to play at a high level.

In order to make the best of the game, my recomendations go like this:
-Get yourself 120Hz/144Hz monitor with a low latency. This will minimize the input lag greatly and make the game feel so much smoother.
-Set the game to high priority in Windows. For some reason, it seems like any task your computer randomly comes across, results in the game lagging and performing poorly.
-Play with a gamepad of good quality, or a mechanical keyboard. This will reduce the mechanical lag, which further reduces the overall lag.

While I'm greatly disappointed in the game's default performance, I have to deeply respect the intentions of how this game is supposed to feel, since after you do all the hard work, the experience explodes to 150% and that's exactly how the game was supposed to run in the first place. But still, this is 100% the developers fault. I think it is in their best interest to work hard on their game to run as smoothly as possible on default.

The server performance isn't all that great either. You can probably get decent performance for some regions but sometimes, the game will do a 360 and start teleporting you like crazy. If you lose the connection to the server while in match, there is an option of rejoining the game. However, it only works after you restart the game, which is not at all intuitive and probably not even intentional.

COMMUNITY

There are a lot of salty, toxic players in the community /me partly included). There is a risk of unhealthy addiction, where you enjoy playing the game and you want to get high in ranked, but get frustrated after a back-to-back loss... which won't, however, stop you from playing more and more. Once you are stuck in this tedious loop of sweat and suffering, it is really easy to become toxic and type lots of horrible stuff in the post-game chat (speaking from experience).

On the other hand, there is a lot of nice ,well behaved players (also partly incuding me, as i like to believe) that will compliment you on your gameplay even if they lose, will help you with tricks and training if asked for, and are overall friedly.

All in all, a good game. The progress of it doesn't require any transactions, it is completely free-to-play and I, presonally, have a lot of good time playing it.

SCORE: 8.5/10 BUT, only after setting everything up so it runs how it is supposed to run.
If i have to rate it by it's default performance, I'd give it a 5/10.

Developers, fix please.

Spooky painting simulator. You wander around a house, bigger than the Buckingham palace, open pointles cabinets, walk through halls that have 10 doors but only one will ever open, collect items that you then smash onto the painting once in a while so the painting changes. Absurd puzzles that make no sense only add to the suffering that this game is.

Basically Amnesia but boring and cheap.

I'm really glad I've waited until the game was free.

I have been a Stan for this game for way too long.

There are just some things in this game that I just can't wrap my head around. Things that have no purpose other than tilt you and make you frustrated. Here they go:

1.
There are bumps on the walls literally EVERYWHERE. They serve no purpose, the only memorable thing they will ever do is that they will block you when you get a little too close to them and ruin your timing. That's it. Why are they there? Why do they have collisions? Just why? (Maybe the game would be too easy without them)
2.
You want to jump on a box that's specifically there to boost you on a higher place? Good luck, press crouch and space in a really narrow window, otherwise you won't get there. Uh, what, you can't do it consistently every single time? "Just git gut lol". It's important that even the most elementary things need to b̶e̶ o̶b̶n̶o̶x̶i̶o̶u̶s̶ a̶n̶d̶ f̶r̶u̶s̶t̶r̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ t̶o̶ a̶c̶c̶o̶m̶p̶l̶i̶s̶h̶ have "high skill ceiling". Why?? (Well, maybe the game would be too easy without it)
3.
You set a timeout for you friend but he says he doesn't need it. The whole team has already pressed F1. Now you have to wait for the timeout to run out. There is no way to cancel it. Why? (Well, this is of course just another lesson that this brilliant game provides for you: Your actions have consequences. Be thankful, stop crying. This might seem like a game, but it's not. It's a sport and playing it shouldn't be a comfortable experience. Why? OMG, just git gut noob)
4.
If you mute a player, his whole name becomes a shade of red that closely resembles the other color that's used for when the player is dead. Now, when you wanna quickly see who is dead and who's alive, you have to double check. Or use the quick info that only shows you numbers. Why? (Well I guess it's more important to be constantly reminded that the person who I willingly muted is... well, muted.)
5.
When throwing a grenade next to a corner, it bounces off. Why? Because it's important that before you throw it, the grenade spawns exactly in front of your face, marking the starting position of its trajectory. Why? It just makes sense, take it or leave it. (Well, I guess without it the game would just be too easy)

Apart from that, this game heavily suffers from cheaters/smurfs. Now when you look at all the points I've made, you might guess why that would be. The only thing that feels somewhat rewarding in this game is winning. Now I understand why people cheat. Maybe with cheats, or other unfair advantage, like playing way below your skill level, makes this game actually somewhat bearable. That is not to say I sympathize with cheaters, I still strongly stand by the opinion that they are the lowest scum the earth has ever seen. I just understand why so many people would cheat. Or better said, why those who refuse to cheat don't play that much anymore.

The matchmaking system is a wreck. Most of my games are either complete domination or complete loss. There is no in-between. A fraction of the matches that I play are actually balanced and half of the time it's because there is a cheater on the opposite team who's barely good enough with the help of cheats to even out the game. It's hilarious.

I hope Counter-Strike will be great again some day. IT CAN BE.

Right now, I would express the experience of playing this game by just one simple word.

Unpleasant. 4/10

So your friends told you to buy this cool game so your whole squad can go kick some butt. They are already gods in the game and can two-tap enemies across the city.

You start the game and notice you have fps issues. You put all settings on low. 60 fps is pretty playable. After couple of restarts, tha game finaly loads. Let's go kick some ass! Soon you realize that 5OO render distance is not what you want to have set when falling down. It's too late for that so you just follow your hardcore friends. You loot, you shoot, you have everything, its time to hunt! Oh, what was that? Is that a car? "You see him, on the left, on the left, come on dude!"

*render quality 50% strikes back*

" WTF i can't see him" you say. "HES RIGHT THERE!!!" yells your friend. They killed you. Now you watch your savage teammates play for next 30 minutes. They kick ass, your team places 2nd.

"We go again?" and of course you do. You drop, you loot you die, you learn. And you enjoy it, somehow...

9/10 no bunnyhop, M4 better than AK47 (hasnt CS tought you anything???)
