Stop listening to techbro chuds hyping up this technology in your board meetings. People don't want artificially crapped out garbage. We're already sick of the garbage that ISN'T artificially made, much less the onslaught of dog-ass platformers and boring geometric puzzle games we're about to be hit with.

A) You don't speak for anyone but yourself, so don't use "we" in your sentences.

B) AI, if used correctly, can advance a lot of tech, and has endless possibilities in games that will create incredible content.

C) Just because you disagree about AI, doesn't make it bad.

You need to do more research instead of get triggered the moment "AI" is mentioned. Use your brain.

Little sad to see nothing mentioned about training data rights. If the model was trained on stolen data, why is it okay to use that to profit in a game?
If the training data is all licensed then should be good to go, but that information should be available to the consumer.
The way I read it, it is actually illegal to do that - it's just not spoken out loud, just implied :) it's up to us developers to make sure we don't use stolen training data. Of course, since it's hard to prove, a lot of devs will use stolen training data anyway and lie about this. But at least, that way Valve is not liable.

Shame on you all for thinking this is ok. Geniunely, this is probably the worst decision you have made in recent years.

It's not particularly shocking that there's kids on here who don't see the issue, cause they have yet to actually get into a job and know how damaging all this AI garbage has been.

I have amazing news for you guys - there actually is no complexity to this issue. AI = theft. Just ban all the AI games.

Ai is such an incredible tool, but a severe double edged sword. Allow its use with justified regulations. Dont fear monger and ask for absolute removal of AI. Again, Ai is capable of both great and terrible things, but bandwaggoning against any and all use of it is worthless as other companies will not respect you and overtake you.
There are some very childish opinions that are derived from what surface level understanding of AI can offer and knee jerk reactions to it because someone with a big number of followers on some social media site told you to not like it.
Dont be toxic about it, be civil.

What the hell, Valve. This is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Don't allow this bs on Steam.

So if I understand this correctly - reading between the lines - it's illegal to use imagery created by most AI generation tools, since they use copyrighted material in their training data.

However, if you somehow manage to find an AI model that only uses "freeware" training data, or data that you somehow licensed, then it's cool.

But I'm not sure the latter exists at this moment? Maybe someone with more knowledge on this can fill us in. Also, disclaimer, I'm just reading between the lines here. I'm not a copyright lawyer.
Adobe Firefly and iStock both have image generators based entirely on legally licensed content. They cost money instead of being free, but that's because they're, you know, actually paying people.

this, steam should listen to online people who say words like chud instead
So is AI content still disallowed? Or just being categorized as such now?
Seven Jan 9 @ 6:57pm
I don't know how you guys expect to tell that a game has AI in it or not anyway. Seems like a losing battle.

Nah this sucks. You suck for this. None of this should be allowed.
