Install the Steam app and use this, that should be more reliable

I've had this problem since this morning, in the middle of a demo launch. I can't update the built. I've tried everything. I don't understand why Steam doesn't use Steam Guard instead of a random SMS system to validate a built.

It's been 3 hours now.

It's been 3 hours now.

Last time this happened to me, all the texts I'd tried to send arrived pretty much exactly 24 hours later.

Except it does, you can use mobile Steam app instead of SMS. Have you linked mobile Steam Guard?

Update – October 23, 2023.

We are delaying the rollout for these changes, with the expected launch date to now be November 8th, 2023. We’ll be adding support to use the Steam Mobile App to also approve default builds being set live for released apps or inviting new users on the Steamworks site. The Steam Mobile App will be an alternative to entering an SMS confirmation code.

I went to my mobile before posting, I don't see any option for designers. I only see a buyer's side. Do you have to activate something special on the account to manage your game via the steam app?

I dont get any SMS so now im stuck on sending updates out on my game!! Why put sms to confirm its so bad I only got it to work one time now its just not working

What do you mean under "designers"? Developers? There’s no special options, you just need to have corresponding rights and have mobile Steam Guard enabled, try checking here: https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Well, switch to Steam Guard instead of SMS.
But some complain that they get an error when trying to enable Steam Guard (because sms-code is used to confirm) — i have no idea what to do then.

This is trash. Sitting here waiting for a text that hasn't arrived. No button to resend, either. Just another awfully developed system by Valve.

Google Auth or email would suffice.

for one full day. So I set up the QRcode from the mobile app to bypass it. Now it's :

"Due to a recent change to your accounts security you will be unable to set the default branch on released apps for 72 hours from your last change in phone number, authenticator or email address. If you made these security changes yourself and need to ship a build urgently, please contact Steam Support here."

it is an important patch for a game just released...

I instantly filed a ticket. I'm still waiting. How is this even possible

I tried to update my game on November 3 I'm still waiting for the SMS. And the phone authenticator app needs an SMS as well to be able to set it up so I'm stuck.
