Steam controller support -- test gyro function & haptics question

I found the steam controller support page within Big picture mode but I'm not finding an option to "test" the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors. Any suggestion how I can test those features?

Also, how do the haptics work? I'm getting suddle tacticle feedback when using the trackpad but when playing games I don't have the rumble feedback that I'm used to from ps/xbox controllers. Do I need to enable that somehow? Or does the game actually need to support that in order to work?

I just found a post down below ("Rumble?") where somebody says steam controller isn't though to have rumble, it's just the haptics feedback. I believe that answers that question.

If anybody has a suggestion how I can test gyro & accelerometer I'd appreciate it.
