I believe he more accurately wants to know if anything is being done so that DOSBox games on Steam will be made installable on Linux. He doensn't want to know if he can or how to install DOSBox himself, what he wants to know is if Steam is making DOS games available on Linux through the Linux version of DOSBox.
I think new SteamOS users will have to go begging ... unless they start getting adventurous!
Meanwhile, I can play A Bug's Life on a 64-bit PC, PS2, PS3, and even stream it to a PSP! What's that about?! Some kind of Disney Magic?
from there you should be able to install dosbox for linux and any games..
Just a thought
Still excellent question by OP
hmmmm
The old DOOM games are opened by DOSBox, right?
Nevermind, I just tried to download them in SteamOS, it didn't allow me to. That really sucks because if a game works with wine, they couldn't even do that
Just the game.
run it in dosbox for linux desktop in steamos!
Id try but I need a new GPU - No support with the latest update..
If that's true, shouldn't we be allowed to download them in SteamOS? I honestly don't know, just asking
It would be nice if someone from Steam were to chime in and shed some light on this :)
If you want to be able to configure Dosbox yourself and just use the files from the Windows version, then you'll just have to get the files from the Windows version, I guess.
And in either case, lobby the publishers to put out a Linux version, which really wouldn't be that much effort for them.
