SteamOS Install error - No bootable device
Hi,

I just tried to install the SteamOS Beta on an Acer laptop but I couldn't boot to the system.
The USB booted fine and the installation apparently went well but when I tried to run the OS after the installation finished I get stuck on this error:

"No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"

So... Apparently the system wasn't installed but if I manually try to browse the files through the USB install utility they seem to be all in the disk.

I tried changing the boot order and some other boot options in the BIOS with no success.

Does anyone know what the hell is happening here?

Thank you very much!

Victor

Try installing SteamOS by DVD.

Use Rufus and DVD ISO image to make a bootable USB drive. (I used Universal USB Inataller, but many people here said Rufus is better)

Be careful to choose the UEFI option (if you have a dual BIOS/UEFI mode on your motherboard). The easiest method for me so far, is to get the DVD ISO image I linked below. You can use unetbootin or win32 disk imager on Windows to get it on a USB if you have no optical drive. I will also list a small article to correct the missing files you likely will get if you use unetbootin.

Download: Choose "SteamOSDVD.iso"
