Request a beta key there and then use that instead.
For this guide we are using the SKIM64 installer to install the FAR Mod and then overwriting using v7.0.20 files --- As this is the most recent one I've found to work with "Bande Desinee / 3DMigoto" + "NieR Automata - HD Texture Pack"
Download the Main File.
Extract "SKIM64.exe" anywhere (downloads folder is ok).
Right-click, properties, "unblock" (lower-right hand corner).
Double-click on SKIM64.exe, Select a Product (drop-down menu): "FAR" (Fix Automata Res.), INSTALL.
Let it install and when it finishes, close out of the window.
DELETE THESE FILES:
— "ReShade" folder (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "ReShade64.dll" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "ReShade64.ini" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "ReShade64_SpecialK64.pdb" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "d3d11_shaders.ini" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
NOW Download FAR v 7.0.20.
Extract ONLY these (3) files: "dinput8.dll", "dinput8.pdb", and "CEGUI (folder)" into your NierAutomata game directory.
Replace All.
Open the file "default_dinput8.ini".
— Navigate to the [Render.DXGI] section and ensure "Use64BitDepthStencil=false
— Navigate to the [Textures.D3D11] section and ensure "Inject=true".
NOW Download "Base Admin Files" under the FILES TAB, in the Main files section.
— Extract the contents into your %USERPROFILE%\documents folder (This is the folder with the Administrative FAR files & ReShade files inside. FAR will read from the "My Mods" folder.)
— Replace All.
— Go into this file: My Mods\SpecialK\PlugIns\ThirdParty\ReShade\ReShade.ini
— Replace: "CurrentPresetPath", "EffectSearchPath", and "TextureSearchPaths" to the correct paths (FOR YOUR SYSTEM)
— Go into this file: NieRAutomata\dinput8.ini
— Scroll down to the very bottom and ADD this section at the end:
[Import.ReShade64]
Architecture=x64
Role=ThirdParty
When=PlugIn
;Filename=THIS POINTS TO YOUR MY MODS FOLDER (Wherever that is, for you).
Filename=%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\PlugIns\ThirdParty\ReShade\ReShade64.dll
Go into your Taskbar notifications section, and find an icon that looks like a snowflake (SKIM);
— If you do NOT see it - You may skip this step.
— if you DO see it - Right-click it and Deselect "start with windows" and (if it is available) select "stop".
START THE GAME ONCE. It should work correctly.
If the game does NOT start correctly ----- DELETE these files:
— "NieR Automata" folder in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games
— "Versions" folder (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "dinput8.ini" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "FAR.ini" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
DELETE these files too (if you have them) AND TRY TO START THE GAME AGAIN:
— "ReShade" folder (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "ReShade64.dll" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "ReShade64.ini" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "ReShade64_SpecialK64.pdb" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
— "d3d11_shaders.ini" (in your NieRAutomata game directory)
If the game DOES start correctly ----- You have successfully installed FAR.
— While in-game, Press "CTRL" + "SHIFT" + "BACKSPACE" to open the FAR Menu.
— Click on the "UPDATE" tab, and select "Never" for when to update.
— Now EXIT the game.
Nearly always looks like cancer and yet people recommend as "improvements".
Personally use ReShade to fix certain looks such as washed-out colors and generally color-related personal triggers of mine (I use some custom LUTs for certain games to correct the overall tone of the game's colors back to a neutral state).
ALSO - For those who use my guide referenced here, I haven't made the change to download v 7.0.14 (yet), but since it seems it is recommended to use that version instead of the latest version I should take a look at doing so sometime soon. I'm always down for improvements to that guide --- expect to see future guides using that guide as a BASE TEMPLATE.
EDIT: I have updated the guide to use v7.0.14 of FAR (Thanks to Aemony's suggestion I read somewhere.)
