If you want a short version, I could give it to you later - I don't remember all the details, and I'm not at my profile for the moment.
The way I remember it - you need a single player save, upload it to the site, and use 2 GMR/steam accounts to join a game, then delete the password option. Download the save file, then load it through hotseat option in game menu.
As I said, it's the way I remember it, more detailed version could be delivered later when I redo all the steps and remember it. If you'll need it at this point - you might just figure it out yourself, since you're a programmer.
I will take a look at this asap. I got this awesome WW3 game right now I would like to play out with some friends.
P.S Does the amount of players actually matter to GMR?
Like I started my game with 12 AI but now we are down to 6 or so. What should I tell GMR? My guess is it only matters how many players there are not ai?
The trick is (if you can call it that) - that you will have the list of all the civilizations, if you upload a single player save, you will have, as far as I remember, either all of them marked as AI and the players that join the game can choose freely, or 1 will be marked as a human, and it's the uploader's profile. And you can choose others freely.
I can't really remember, but I vaguely recall that you can actually switch seats between anybody, but you will have to reupload, rearrange and download the savegame each time you do it.
If I remember it correctly - you can treat all AI players as vacant seats and choose on your whim.
At least that's how I remember it. Can't say I'm 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure.
You don't "have" to use anything with it - it's just a save converter. The difference is DLC, are not mods, you don't need to enable them via mod menu, that's all - the GMR doesn't really care. So if you use DLC you don't need to launch it from mod menu, after you enable the required mods you used with the save game.
I did encounter one problem once, when GMR didn't properly recognize a save game, but it was only one time, with mods that simulate Napoleonic Battles, particularly, Waterloo, I think. I'm still not sure what was the problem, but I doubt you have to worry about it.
Enjoy.
I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. Let me see if I can explain it a bit better. To do multiplayer with DLL mods you have to make a fake DLC and install it into your game. This DLC is in fact the mod, it is just shown as a DLC in the game and activated automatically on game start. This allows users to start a normal multiplayer game with said mod or fake DLC in this case.
So with the mod we currently use we converted it to one of these DLC Multiplayer modpacks. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this DLC modpacks and using GMR desktop client.
So far the one game we have tried failed to work. Just wondering if anyone else has done it. Though i really should start a new thread as it is very off topic to the first post.... whoops.
P.S I will start a new thread. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/multiplayerrobot/discussions/0/2765630416807733919/
So I am guessing that it is based on order of the civs in the game. Aka I start a GMR game and if I want him to be russia, they are the 5th civ in the game so I order it as my buddy being the 5th civ.
So what could be happening is it is in fact counting dead civs. As I started with 12 civs in the game. So the 5th slot could be a dead civ. is there any way to get a list of all the civs in a save game, with the correct orders of them all? Could the in game editor do this for me?
Edit: If I create it as a scenario it says the game is full, and no one can join. And I cannot start the game because there is only one human. Any ideas?
The only issue with this is there were 22 players in my game, and GMR only has support for 12. So not sure what I would do if I wanted someone to be in a AI slot that say ocupies the 14th empire. Well that is a problem for another day. Not now..... hahaha.
About the DLC modpacks - sorry can't help you here, I used them before, but I only do workshop now.
I hope you'll be able to figure it out, but I guess I just need to pick it up myself and redo all the steps. When I'll get to my computer.
If GMR has only 12 slots... Not sure what I could do honestly, but I guess we'll see.
I am also in several 22 players and one 21 players game, but maybe all those were created by DLL mods, so not sure if they are the same with your case as you are using another DLL mod.
