Several other users also reported this in our Discord channel (which is way more active than here) and I myself also confirmed this and reported it to the GMR owners/developers.

As a work around for Chrome, click "Details" on the warning page, then click "visit this unsafe site", you should be directed to GMR site.

For other browsers, steps should be similar.

3 v 3 mirror map team game

This is a unique game type, not sure it has been done on here before. Its using the Noval mirror map script used for duels, but expanding it for 6 players. We already played a bit of the opening, settled some cities etc. Needs close coordination with your team, of which your other teammates are: @oGillan @kalle-online.net, ask them for more details, the map is mirrored but I don't want to share screenshots of my teams land 🙂

We had a leaver in this game early on too who we took some time to replace, so this is not as far along as the other, not even sure if anyone reached classical era yet, if they did it was only just. Most people don't even have 2 cities yet.

As far as I can tell, this is an undocumented feature (or a bug); after x many vacations turns, GMR drops a player from that game.

From a game stand point, a civ played by a player who is on permanent vacation and a civ played by AI are the same, both wolud be played by AI every turn.

If for some reason you want that player still to be in the game, you can re-invite him/her.

It may or may not be related, but a few years ago, after I upgraded my system to Windows 10, I started to have the same issue of GMR Client closing down when I am switching out of Civ 5.

I found that the problem went away when I matched my desktop resolution to the resolution of Civ 5.

So my guess is, GMR Client was having some sort of a problem while the resolution was changing when I was getting out of Civ 5 to desktop.

I had reported the problem to the GMR developers, but they were unable to solve it, probably they were unable to replicate it, as I have not heard of this issue from anyone else back then.

I normally do not use the "Automatically Close Civ when...", I always keep the "Never" option selected, but to attempt to replicate this issue, I used the "A new save is detected" option. However, I was unable to replicate the issue, the save file was downloaded normally, then I loaded and played my turn, then Civ is closed and I was able to upload the save file through the Client without any problems...

I am not a developer, but if you post your debug file (rename your existing one if you have it, to something like debug_log_OLD_txt, if you want to keep it for future reference), maybe we, as the community, can figure out what the problem is. Go to settings on the GMR Client, check the "Log additional debug information", download a turn through the GMR Client, play your turn and if the GMR Client does not behave as expected (close Civ, if that option is selected, then upload the save file), click "Go to debug logs" from the gear icon on the top right of the GMR Client.

As a side note, some players reported that GMR Client was sometimes extremely slow when uploading the save file, I have not seen that myself, but very rarely I saw the case when downloading a save file the download is tuck and not completing, which I manged to fix by quitting the Client and relaunching it. Not sure this is related to the issue you are having, but you can also try quit the Client and restart it tactic, see if it helps.

Many GMR players were using Slack as the preferred communication platform for several years. Couple of years ago we attempted to move to Discord, but there was not enough interest in the community, so that was shelved.

Why did we move from Slack?
- Slack has a message history of 10,000 messages. It is quite useless for discussing civ games that can last years.
- Discord was designed around playing games, and we are playing games.

I have not heard of any good solution about this yet. Just a long workaround a player posted on Slack: "just FYI for other folks in similar situation; we have found that GMR will accept the files if they are first loaded on a windows machine and resaved. not ideal, but its something"
