SNES to PC Music Patch
Hi, there! For many of you who prefer the SNES soundtrack of Final Fantasy IV I have converted the songs for the steam release. Hope you enjoy! Also, please leave me feedback if you have any issues, thanks!

Demo video:

Music Files
Version 9.30.14 - click here[www.dropbox.com]

Instructions
1. Navigate to your \Steam\steamapps\common\Final Fantasy IV\EXTRACTED_DATA\files\SOUND\BGM folder.
2. Replace files. (You should probably backup old files although you can always recover them from steam server)

Also, if you have Final Fantasy VIII for steam (or 2000 PC release) check out my PS1 music patch here

Hey biggs, trying to modify FFIX's music atm and see it uses the same format as FFIV. Was wondering if you could tell me how you encoded the .akb and how to create the loop metadata.

The header is 204 bytes. All the bytes (little endian for > 1 byte) are the same other than offsets here:
0x8 - file size (4 bytes)
0x10 - starting loop when returning from a battle. I just copied this. (4 bytes)
0x14 - starting loop in samples (4 bytes)
0x18 - end loop in samples (4 bytes)
0x24 - song index # (1 byte)
0xC4 - ? no clue. just copy (5 bytes)

Strip the header (from 0x00 to 0xCC) and you're left with a .ogg file.

Thanks Enfyve. Didn't realise this was basically a dupped thread.

Thank you for this, now can just focus on fixing FF9.....

Thank you so much for this, Junkybiggs! Words can't properly express how grateful I am. I recently admitted to myself that I personally hate the new soundtrack in FFIV's 3D remake, and installed this wonderful mod. Watching the voice acted cutscenes with the original, brassier, brighter, and all-around catchier in my opinion soundtrack was like a homecoming.

Thank you for making this mod. Have a nice day. :)

How did you import in new music into the game, I'm playing through the game right now and the music is cancer. Assuming the soundtracks are similar to the original game I'd like to try remaster them, but only if there's a way to put them in the game. So how did you do it? :)

Well, I know the chances of this being seen are slim, but I have to firstly say thank you, Biggs. This made FFIV Remake the ultimate FFIV experience. The only other thing I think I'd like done is removing that stupid walk-to-run transition, even if it means completely eliminating the "first step" of walking altogether, LOL.

The second thing is I'd like to report a bug. After the ending credit roll is done playing, in the normal Steam and Smartphone version, Prelude is supposed to play. However, with this mod applied, the rest of the credits are instead completely silent.

I have a suggestion--maybe you could make 2 versions? One that plays SNES Prelude as intended, and one that plays Tsuki no Akari from the Japanese DS version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9M4zvfEnbY Just an idea. Thanks for this again.

Any chance of doing this for the pixel remaster version? Some tracks aren't mixed very well, ie. I can barely hear the bass in the battle theme, and the snare is barely there in the Red Wings theme. Plus the snare fills on the battle theme aren't verbatim what was done in the SNES version, they aren't more intense the player is just doing fewer hits for some reason. The patterns and instrument levels are etched into my memory as being one way, the redone tracks don't match it and I would really like to have SNES music for future playthroughs!
