Japanese Undub Patch
Hey there! If you prefer the prefer to listen to the Japanese voices rather than the English dubs, I've gone through and replaced the English files with the Japanese.

If you experience any issues/crashing, let me know who was speaking, what cutscene it was and what the subtitles show was around the time, and I'll see about correcting it ASAP, thanks!

Awesome man. I'll add this along with the other mods I missed in the last month or so to the index this weekend. Can't wait to try this out!

The only files that should remain unedited are event sound effects and Rosa's song, which is actually still in Japanese.

Don't delete them.

Not yet, but check back later today or tomorrow, I will be fixing an overlap issue with Cagnazzo's voice during Palom and Porom's final cutscene.
(I may not be able to fix this, since it occurs in the english version too, but I'll see what I can do)

(Also, the version number will be the date I uploaded, so you can reference that to see if there've been any changes)

I've just released v4.10.16, this version fixes timing on the Palom and Porom cutscene. It also fixes an error that existed in the English version where Cagnazzo's voice overlapped. Here's a before and after:

I must congratulate you on a job well done, bringing to close an issue that i've long had with the Western release of the FFIV remake on 3DS, Android, and now PC! The Japanese audio was present, but nobody saw fit to ensure it added.

Thanks to work of undubbers, modders, and all others who make impassioned though cogent pleas to include original language voice work, remove game censorship etc... and generally offer options for the most complete version of the game as the developers intended it, SquareEnix themselves have started to release their later titles with Japanese audio included from the start, as they did for Final Fantasy XIII , XIII-2, and soon to be X and X-2!

Well done!

P.S. - Maybe I missed it, but would you be willing to give detailed results of your modding process and what skills and tools it required? Having spoken to people who attempted to mod in JP audio in the past, they were met with considerable difficulty but then again I do not know the exact method they were using. Thank you again!

Biggs had a method which he used to replace the music with the SNES version. essentially the file is an OGG with an extra 204 byte header and the file extension changed to .AKB, by removing the header, adjusting some values and attaching the header to the JP OGG files I was able to undub it.

There was however crash issues because a lot of the files were longer/shorter in the japanese version, so I either padded the audio with silence or trimmed/adjusted the tempo so that the sample length of the new files were essentially the same, this was the hardest part since that had to be done manually in Audacity. everything else I wrote a python script to automate.

more details about the AKB format can be found in Biggs' thread about the SNES music patch here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/312750/discussions/0/613937306627860884/?ctp=3#c613937306807324445

Thanks for this.

This will improve the PC port of the game.
The decision to keep only the English dub in the port is especially baffling as Square Enix always defaults to the English dub even if the text is in a different language that's not English nor Japanese.
And the iOS version contains the Japanese version, but the English dub plays whenever your phone is in any language that's not Japanese.

It's like showing Amélie in the German dub with English subtitles in the US, even if the film was originally in French.
Or showing any Studio Ghibli film in the English dub with Russian subtitles in Russia, even if the films were originally in Japanese. Or in a Mandarin dub with English subtitles over in the US.
Or showing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in Japanese with French subtitles over in France, even if it was originally in Mandarin.
It's a concept that is illogical, in my opinion.

It's applies on Android version too,but when the texts is in PT-BR the voices are the JP VA not the $h!tty EN dub :breaks:
