Definitely. If everybody had the same taste, we would all be fighting for the same woman/man :).

Anyway I actually read opinions on other 4x games similar to your own. I respect that there are poeple who got this view, but i dont really understand it. Its like you expect a 4x game to have something new, somethign revolutionary to be even worth playing. Its like you dont really like 4x, and want it to be something different. I like 4x games, all i want is it to be good as a 4x game, not reinventing the wheel. I would never judge a 4x game from its tutorial, cause the most important things are the mechanics and the AI, which you cant judge unless you play 1-2 full long games.

Anyway as said , each to his own, very good that there is a demo and each person can see if he likes it or not,
So my first impressions after playing a bit of the tutorial:

-Very nice atmospheric cutscenes, I was feeling immediately the vibe of Babylon V :)
-The graphics : maybe not stellaris class, but nice, above average for 4x
-music is nice
- The tutorial is quite good, tough for me its a bit to long, I alwys am impatient to startt my own adventure, not go through scripted stuff :)

- Nice shorcuts for apprently everything, will come in handy in a longer game.

Some toughts i had while trying stuff:

-When I select ships,I am not sure if blue or white means selected, it isnt obvious to me.
- In the planetary screen, the build button is imho not obvious. With the tutorial i was looking for it a good minute, clicking all around, the queue, the texts. It just looked like a text to me.
- Maybe i missed the info, but I stumbled by luck upon the fact that clicking on the tutorial tasks shows the details how to do it.
- The research screen - I was also looking a good minute how to enter research screen(before i did the tutorial ) . Usually with 4x menus you got somwhere a list of everything ships, design , economy, research. So i was intently looking for it in the upper menu, until i found out its actually in the bottom, you must click on the info

-Not a big thing, but I am more used to "esc" being the default key for exiting, not tab.

-No crashes so far:), I think i found one small bug in the tutorial:
exited info screen in turtorial when it was said to enter info screen research menu, couldnt go back, 2 tasks were white in the list of tasks.

So, so far for me very positive, tough with 4x for me the critical thing is mechanics and AI, which will take me a while to judge. Will write more when I experience more:)

Galactic Civilizations 4 Megathread
Playing more, Im tottaly addicted. The more I play, the more I appreciate the changes. Gone are the 50 moves a turn transports that would insta conquer your planets, so I would build 80 sensor range ships, just to detect them in time.... Each race I tried so far really plays different... lots of things

I still got a lot of things I would like different, and the game does feel rushed out of the door, but its so good even now..
So I have played a good number of hours of GalCiv 4.For me , its pretty good, it definitely has that one more turn feel:). I wasnt to sold on the whole sectors thing first, as the galaxy seemed smaller at start, confined. But now that I actually am in mid game and have a majority of a sector, its pretty nice to be able to build defensive starbases at the exit of a slipspace stream, and intercept with fleets , it adds a layer of strategy and reduces the whack a mole, you can intercept most of them there. Overall some changes i like , some im not sure, but I do like the whole. Still it does feel a bit rushed, I have had some crashes, and a weird bug that makes the turn never end. Also some stuff like invasions, atm feel functional but half baked. What im most impressed with i think are the races this time. I played a Festeron Hunt, the creepy aliens, and the Navigators and they do play completely different. Also I like the super cute white fur elves that tell you with a smile pretty much they exterminated all their homeword sapient species, very creepy:)

Not that the free/Kicskstarter version is bad. It's just not the "ultimate/final" version we were all hoping for.

Yes, exactly my feelings. As it is its pretty good, but it could have been so much better.
