Looks like less competition for you guys. Surprising indeed given the market saturation on MOO-inspired games. I do wish them luck though.

Thanks for the encouragement, you are right that the market is getting crowded now but as far as I know this has been in the works for a while. So I suspect a crowded market was not going to discourage the designers. The compition is going to be stiff.

Oh, I should introduce myself, I am Edward. I am just a forum moderator over at the new project and I was a reviewer at the previous website. I've been following the discussions on these forums. I am bit of the Lurker type, but I enjoyed reading what people had to say about all the upcoming games.

So I am here to engage with the eXplorminate community and keep the developers up to date with what you guys discuss here. Since I am not lurking anymore and need to actively participate, I may be more active elsewhere since I am still a huge fan of the genre as a whole.

Thank you for the thread!

Thanks for the introduction, Edward, and nice to have you here! Looking forward to seeing what you all have cooking up. :)

Hey Ed, welcome to the mix.

You can be sure we'll be reporting on it.

I, for one, welcome another MOO-style game for the reason that it brings another set of developers to the task of improving the formula for this genre. More brains = more creativity = idea sharing = better games in the genre.

Can't imagine their budget being too huge and although that's not a requirement to make a good game, it sure helps. Question is can they make an exceptional 4X or "just another MoO2 clone".

I agree, when you have more people it means people need to step up their game, and ideas flow back and forth.

Yeah another lets make overated nostalgia game but add modern concepts like strategic resources, less micro managment that players expect. The problem it's not Moo2 because they sure love the tedium and 1990's gameplay.

Good luck to them anyway but chasing the dragon is never wise.

As long as they don't spend too much time on the wrong things (i.e things that aren't really exciting or long-term worthwhile like voice acting or graphics) I don't think they could mess up. They have so many lessons and examples to learn from.

Seriously, just have some worthwhile tact combat already (like only polaris sector had it).

Isn't it past time for people to get over MOO2?
But best of luck to SS and I hope they make a great game
