The Civil War in Skyrim from the 4th Era has been lost to the ages, who won or lost that was pointless to the grand scale of things, a radical sub sect of the Thalmor of the Aldmeri Dominion sought to bring down the great towers of the world and at last they had succeeded sometime in 1500 4e with it came the dark ages and the decades that magic ceased to be, until the world recovered from the damage, with one hundred years of no magic, the world fell apart and society nearly collapsed to the basic levels of primordialism, no one knows how long the Fourth Era lasted but the Fifth Era did not begin till the light of mana was restored to the world and rebuilding of society had begin.

Now it has been 1200 years since man returned to the world a generation or more by every race alive and it has been slow but the Darks Ages may not be so bleak after all, perhaps a new dawn is arising or a thousand years of darkness, the world shall never know.
