ABOUT The Bizarchivist Sound Project

The Bizarchivist Sound Project Steam Group

It is the hope of The Bizarchivist Sound Project to provide non-profit machinimators, modders & other creators audio assets from various video games such as the Valve Games, the Telltale Games, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Halo & more and modifications such as Black Mesa & Project Reality to provide them the audio resources they seek for their personal and/or non-profit projects.

First publicly underway on February 2014 on machinima site & forum Machinination (Shut down as of 1st January 2017), what I called "The Bizarchivist Sound Project" grew a personal library of audio from 45+ games, including now-dead games such as Battlefield: Play4Free & PlanetSide or console games such as Gears of War 2 & Halo: Reach or audio archived prior to replacement such as Team Fortress 2 WAV files for dialogue, as well as references to freely available game audio and/or music such as for Bulletstorm & Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown and extraction guides for various games including Grand Theft Auto V, PlanetSide 2 & an assortment of Unreal Engine games.

Despite having announced my retirement from actively working on this project as of July 2018, I believed it best to move the project & it's contents to the Steam Group to ensure continued availability of it's contents & information after Machinination declared it's closure.

Here are the three places to go and find what you're looking for:

This is my collection of personal extractions or reuploads of others, along with details regarding permissions for content creation & monetisation if available.

This tends to be updated whenever I am alerted to an existing piece of the collection receiving new content.

Here, you will find topics dedicated to video game music/audio, free soundtrack & other audio provided by other archivists or the authors themselves such as RayTunes, Metroid-Database & Zelda Dungeon or Mark 'TDK' Knight, Craig Hardgrove & Futuremark.

These are guides either from myself or others as to how to acquire video game audio for yourselves, often in the place of audio from my collection I cannot offer for download.

I hope the project shall be of service to you!

Bizarchivist Maintenance: In the Downtime, With a "Show" of "Basic Courtesy and Respect"
Stop Killing Games
Although things had looked to be winding down for the movement, the very video that largely declared this seems to have resulted in the quickest, if not biggest interest & results for the movement since it first put it's plans into motion back in April 2024 following the announcement of The Crew being shut-down & effectively rendered entirely unplayable. In fact, both the U.K. Government & Parliament Petition and the European Citizens' Initiative had crossed their required signatures within less than 10 days since this began. However, even though the latter & more significant has received 1.399+mil/1mil signatures & the voiced support of Nicolae Ștefănuță, a Vice President of the European Parliament, there is still the call for gathering signatures to ensure that once the deadline is reached, any possible number of inapplicable and/or illegitimate signatures that are detected during the verification process(es) are not significant enough to render what verifiable signatures remain insufficient (Although people have tried to assure Ross Scott that this "margin of error" is likely much smaller than he might still be anxious about, I'm of the same "Better to have it & not need it..." mind-set as well). Thankfully, the former has received 189,890/100,000 signatures by the time it's deadline of 14th July 2025 was reached.

If you wish to partake in this current action,
  • For citizens of countries within the European Union, sign the European Citizen's Initiative:
    https://eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#/screen/home
    (Deadline: 31st July 2025)
  • For citizens of countries within the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, while the Petition to the U.K. Government & Parliament has closed, contacting your local M.P. (Member of Parliament) is still presently being encouraged.
  • For citizens of other nations, refer to the Stop Killing Games website to see what actions may be currently available to you:
    https://www.stopkillinggames.com/
If you need/wish to be informed about Stop Killing Games and it's goals, you can refer back to my previous How To Stop: Killing Games on the matter as a starting point, but if you need/want to hear some other voices among the recent many, I can personally refer to:
I've seen Ross Scott (Or '@Accursed_Farms') vigilantly commenting under most YouTube videos I've seen talking about this subject matter, so do be sure to double-check if he has provided any corrections and/or clarifications for them.

Louis Rossmann of Rossmann Repair Group, who is also founder of the Consumer Rights Wiki and a known figurehead of Right To Repair in the United States of America amongst other things, also has numerous videos on the subject as well as a live-streamed conversation with Ross Scott & Mathew Cassells, but these may be more informative perspective & specifics than essential summary. There are also many interviews conducted with Ross Scott from 'Boulder Punch' to Gamers Nexus & FUTO (Of which Louis Rossmann also worked for prior to founding the Consumer Rights Wiki), but these also may be less required hearing, especially for those already well informed on the subject matter.

This should thankfully be the last that I'll feel the need to say on the matter in this manner. Now, onto much more relevant & material news to report before we can get to the actual changes & additions.

Leaks (Boreal Alyph, Halo Digsite Archive & Classic Offensive)
- Boreal Alyph
Following the unfortunate news that Boreal Alyph, an 'Epistle 3' project being developed on the Source Engine (Even having secured a full engine licence from Valve) by Keep Away From Fire, had been "shelved permanently", the team seemingly dissolved and hopes to publicly release their "development materials and assets" never realised, a full b0.5.1498 build of the game was leaked in early November 2024.

A stable & playable build can be found here as was recommended to me directly after discovering the unstable build: https://archive.org/details/boreal-alyph-b0.5.1498-stable
The prior unstable build still remains available via a Google Drive link included in this Boreal Alyph Weapon Animations YouTube video for anyone that might be curious.

The 'Boreal Alyph: Music For & Inspired By' soundtrack "Released as part of Kaffmas 2019" also remains officially available for 'Name Your Price'/Free download via Bandcamp & SoundCloud:
- https://soundcloud.com/keepawayfromfire/sets/boreal-alyph-music-for-inspired-by

I have full intentions to provide the audio from this build, but I have still yet ascertain any differences between the unstable & stable build, especially with the game's use of FMOD within the mix that I believe hold some additional audio alongside the .WAV & .MP3 files typical of almost every Source Engine game in existence. Hopefully, the prior referrals shall be satisfactory in the meantime.

Alternatively, the game's assets have quickly been put to good use for Half-Life 2 mods such as these:
- OUTDATED Boreal Alyph Weapon Sounds
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3369826985
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3366550725
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3369720453
- Halo Digsite Archive
Following the release of the restored Halo 2 E3 2003 Demo & Alpha Moon and a series of largely disgruntled departures from the Digsite Crew, the full Digsite archive was leaked in it's 90+GB entirety at the end of December 2024 (Of which more details can be found included within my How To Show: Basic Courtesy and Respect Topic & Steam Guide where I describe my own encounters with 343 Industries Halo Studios).

I did manage to acquire the strongly-compressed 18.6GB Split-.7Z package from the original source, but there isn't a significant amount of audio that I have so far discovered beyond:
  • A full 'Halo1_UnusedAnnouncerLiners' folder containing used & unused Announcer voice lines for Halo: Combat Evolved in .AIF format
  • .AIF files for 'disintegrator' & 'flamethrower' weapons for Halo 2
  • .WAV files for the voice lines of the Alpha Moon mission (I believe these are Digsite Crew recordings, not any original placeholders by Bungie).

It is my hope that others have managed to restore availability for the contents of this leak in the time since it occurred as although I would very much like to do so for myself, the sheer size of it is beyond my present & foreseeable ability to do so. Plus, 343 Industries Halo Studios or other Microsoft representatives were so hasty & aggressive in their takedowns that the original source for the leak was outlasting much of the media & channels merely discussing & showcasing it's contents at the time as well as the promptly-made Internet Archive entries for it's contents before it finally too went down, so unless this was as poor a "Forcing the Genie back in the Lamp" attempt as I think it was, it would be worth knowing what material(s) might have motivated this response that other leaks such as the shortly-after leaked 'Halo 2 E3 2004 Multiplayer' Build didn't receive. As it stands, I'll likely focus on audio specifically when I can get around to it.

In the meantime, I can refer you to still-available MediaFire links for the playable 'Halo 1999 MacWorld' Build & 'Halo E3 2000' Build that were also within this leak via these YouTube videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz6dN5vAUWw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwPGU1X4Msk

Also, while I have yet to give due & full mention to this, 'Neo Te Aika', one of the former members of the Digsite Crew has not only available the music he composed for the Digsite projects & other Halo community projects, but also the freely available 'Odyssey: Mythic Restoration Project', "an open-source music resource for use in CE content, using the same synthesizers and samplers responsible for the Original Soundtrack, with the goal of providing a modders' resource of a high fidelity nature, that is faithful to the feel of the original score.", which can be found via his Bandcamp or the project's website, if not also the project's ModDB page:

- Classic Offensive
On May 27th 2025, the "March 2025 Build" (What is perhaps the finished & ready for release build, if not a build close to it) of the Classic Offensive mod was leaked. Although I likely cannot provide the download link(s) themselves via this Announcement, I can provide the following referrals to them:
  • This YouTube video containing the original download link as well as a MediaFire alternative (See Description and/or Author Comment for more details):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em4Pijs1atw
  • This unofficial website that provides the original download link as well as a Google Drive alternative, along with some useful instructions:
    https://classicoffensive.net/
Although I can personally say that I have not encountered any reason to be suspicious after having downloaded, explored & anti-virus-scanned the .ZIP from the original link as provided by both sources for myself, I'll nevertheless advise you to proceed at your own discretion and exercise whatever measures you deem fit to ensure that for yourself.

Otherwise, you can admire the full used, unused & developer-only arsenal from the build itself via these YouTube videos, courtesy of 'Yossarian the Assyrian' (The official Classic Offensive YouTube Channel has it's own showcase from December 2024):
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uW5FXeRWyg

As an additional side-note, the creator of the mod's 'Bullpup' / Steyr AUG A1 Rifle model for Classic Offensive has recently released it on the Left 4 Dead 2 Steam Workshop, alongside texture alternatives while being mounted on the weapon's animations for the mod, so it appears that at least the assets for the mod may be starting to be put to good & well deserved use (Hopefully for games such as Counter-Strike: Source, Garry's Mod, Insurgency, Military Conflict: Vietnam & others).

DOTA 2
I have been unable to continue to update this audio collection due to the fact that versions of Source 2 Viewer beyond v0.4.0 simply will not run on my system and the game's newer .VSND_C files cannot be exported & decompiled by this older version of Source 2 Viewer, although I feel confident that newer or the latest versions of the tool such as the latest v12.0 are fully equipped to do so.

I am aware that 2024 saw noteworthy additions to the game in regards to audio, but until I am on a system that the latest versions of Source 2 Viewer can run on, this will not be something that I can continue to maintain.

However, if you wish to get at the latest audio for DOTA 2 for yourself, the Source 2 Viewer tool is available here:
or here for all versions including the latest:

If you need a bit of guidance on how to use Source 2 Viewer for such purposes, this guide of mine, despite not being updated in some time (It notably lacks acknowledgement of the VPKEdit tool picking up where GCFScape left off, even though GCFScape v1.8.6 continues to remain reliable & recommendable and Source 2 Viewer is also able to work with Source Engine games) might be able to get you started if there aren't other easily available tutorials outside of the Valve Developer Community Wiki to be found:
How to Acquire: The Audio of Most Source Engine Games

The Halo Franchise (Halo 3: ODST)
Unfortunately, the oversight as previously mentioned in the 'Sound Collection: The Halo Franchise (Halo 3: ODST)' section persists at this time. However, I have been very recently informed that "FFMPEG somewhat recently went and fixed some HUGE long-withstanding issues with decoding Xbox audio. Original Xbox is night and day.", so it seems that developments in this regard continue to progress and I might be able to also better or fully address other disclosed shortcomings of mine in the years since I performed & provided this extraction.

In the meantime, all referrals also previously mentioned in the 'Sound Collection: The Halo Franchise (Halo 3: ODST)' section are still applicable, if not possibly more-so now.

You can otherwise quickly navigate to the badly-in-need-of-an-update collection here for whatever it might still be worth:
Sound Collection: The Halo Franchise

Now, with all of that finally out of the way, onto the actual updates & new arrivals.

Battlefield 2042
A Visitor of Various names, presently 'Jennifer', has very kindly provided a "Sound Dump" of the Sound Effect & Music for Battlefield 2042. Although it doesn't contain voice files, the 7-Part Split-.7Z of it that I've managed to acquire & store indicates that it has everything else from Launch & Portal to Season 7 for the game.

However, to supplement this to an extent, 'Axle' also visited to kindly provide their own extraction for "ALEX-US-Samuel", one of the U.S. faction characters from Battlefield Portal notable for being voiced by Joseph May reprising his role from Battlefield 3.

Although I continue to be unable to provide a mirror of my own for both of these kindly provided extractions at this time, I can at least confirm that they remain available & their links still live at the time of writing, so feel free to go fetch what they have provided for yourself or even find some potentially useful tips on how they pulled off their extractions.

Thank you both '[Visitor of Various names, presently 'Jennifer']' & 'Axle' very much for this.

You can quickly navigate to their topics here:
- [Contribution] Battlefield 2042 Sound Dump
- [Contribution] BF2042 American Voice Extraction and some actual research into differences.

Hell Let Loose
I've updated this Sound Collection with a full audio extraction from Update 15.2 & Update 17 of Hell Let Loose.

Although I had extracted, uploaded & then provided the full audio from Update 15, I was able to verify that the 1 additional folder & 10 additional files between it & 15.2 was entirely additive with nothing removed/replaced, so I saw fit to replace it with my extraction of Update 15.2 instead. This also with Update 16, with my full audio extraction of Update 17 being entirely identical besides the addition of two files, so providing Update 16 seemed knowingly redundant. As of the latest Update 17.1, all I can detect are removed audio files, so I see no need to further add to the collection at this time.

You can quickly navigate to the collection here:
Sound Collection: Hell Let Loose (Various Versions)

PlanetSide 2
Despite my hopes & previous attempts, I still remain unable to update my audio extraction of PlanetSide 2 since the game changed from .PACK to .PACK2 in March 2019. However, 'Wazix' has managed to do so & more for the game as recently as March 2023 & fully provide their results, and while I haven't managed to more persistently refer and/or backup/include them for myself as of yet, they can be readily found within Google Drive folders as provided by 'Wazix' to the PlanetSide 2 Subreddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/11qq59a/planetside_models_images_and_audio_extracted_and/
or
https://old.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/11qq59a/planetside_models_images_and_audio_extracted_and/

I do hope to be able to ascertain their methodology and be able to do this for myself with the latest version of PlanetSide 2, but this alongside my older extraction that includes long-gone audio such as the 한국어 / Korean voice-over (Removed after a server for the region was shutdown) will hopefully suffice for the time being.

You can quickly navigate to the collection for my own extraction here:
Sound Collection: PlanetSide & PlanetSide 2

There have been official soundtrack releases for both PlanetSide & PlanetSide 2, but I am not in a position to recommend where best to seek a lossless copy of their numerous volumes for them. I did purchase them via Qobuz some time ago, so perhaps I'll be able to add them to my "cut losses" in the future if no other archive has them.

Project Wingman
Following the very-long-awaited release of the v1.5-then-turned-v2.0 Update as well as the arrival of Frontline-59 for the P.C. release on the game's 4th anniversary, I have added a full audio extraction from both Project Wingman (v2.1.0A) & Frontline-59 alongside my existing extraction of Project Wingman (v1.0.4C) & the 'More Prez Lines' mod.

You can quickly navigate to the collection here:
Sound Collection: Project Wingman

As of this time, the Project Wingman: Frontline-59 Official Soundtrack has not joined the Steam nor GOG release, but it is available on composer Jose Pavli's Bandcamp[josepavli.bandcamp.com] alongside the Project Wingman Official Soundtrack[josepavli.bandcamp.com] & Project Wingman - Anniversary Live Orchestra[josepavli.bandcamp.com] in up to 24bit Lossless, and speaking personally as a long-time lover of Ace Combat, this is a strongly recommended must listen/have from myself for anyone with similar interests.

Squad
Full audio extractions from v7.1, v7.2, v8.0, v8.1 & v8.2 of Squad, as well as full audio extractions from:
- SuperMod (Beta 3.0 & Beta 3.6)
- Steel Division Mod (v0.5, v0.82, v0.95, v1.23)
- Galactic Contention Mod (v7.2.1 & v8.2.1)
- Troopers Mod (Various Versions)
- French Faction Mod (bb24.02.02 xxmo), now integrated & succeeded by SuperMod
have now been added to this particular Sound Collection.

With the game set to be migrated from Unreal Engine 4(.27.2.0) unto Unreal Engine 5(.[T.B.D.]) as part of the upcoming v9.0 Update, it's very likely that I won't be able to continue to extract audio from the game & it's mods once this occurs until I either have a system equipped to run tools such as FModel[github.com] or UE Viewer in it's present-and-likely-remaining state ends up being able to access the game's audio. In any case, I haven't seen any indication that the game will adopt any audio middleware such as Wwise as part of the migration, so if that turns out to be true, any tool readily equipped to extract audio from standard-use Unreal Engine 5 games should do the job smoothly.

You can quickly navigate to the collection here:
Sound Collection: Squad (Various Versions)

Squad 44
I've updated this Sound Collection with full audio extractions from Operation Clean Sweep, Reign of Steel, Update 1.5, The Pacific Front: Iwo Jima (Update 2.0, 2.0.1 & 2.1) and The Pacific Front: The Battle for Guadalcanal (Update 2.2), much of which brought the significant addition of maps based in the Pacific Front, along with the theatre's factions & arsenals.

Symthic Users' Audio Extraction from Star Wars: Battlefront [2015]
I was informed that the original 'SWBF Audio w/o VO' MEGA link had expired, leading me to discover that yet more of the original MEGA links had also expired and I had failed to provide MediaFire alternatives that I had at the ready. This has now been resolved.

Unfortunately, I've only just discovered that in the time since updating the links in question, the still-remaining-at-the-time 'SWBF Vanilla Audio' MEGA links have since gone down and I have not managed to prepare a MediaFire reupload of the 4-part Split-.7Z package as of yet. While my opportunity to do so is currently being complicated by a series of local heatwaves and the fact that uploading 4.37GB at a time is not something I'm equipped to pull off swiftly (It'll likely take up to 12-13hrs for each of the 3 bigger parts of 4, unless I repackage & split the 14.4GB package into something a little more evenly manageable), this is something that I hope to have fully addressed in the near future.

Although I am not able to refer you to a reliable of means of extracting the game's audio for yourself in the meantime (The amount of painful headaches I've had trying to extract from Frostbite Engine games has sincerely worn me out from trying until I can see a present tool-set being demonstrated in being successful at the task), I do often hear or at times get told about the 'Frosty Toolsuite', with the aforementioned Battlefield 2042 extractions being examples of it's successful use that I have seen for myself. However, it requires the user to compile the tool for use and it gets forked often enough that it's hard to pin down a suitable recommendation, so while I cannot make any sure suggestions, perhaps it can serve as a lead in the very least.

Thanks to 'Ronnie' [Steam] for reporting the issue.

Along with having:

- Corrected 'ctf_carrier' to 'cp_carrier'
- Corrected 'Announcer [PL_Leicoast]' to 'Announcer [PD_Leicoast]'

Although I have yet to include mention this for myself, it is perhaps worth adding that TF2Ware Ultimate has an Open Source release with all files, including audio entirely available via the mod's GitHub page: https://github.com/ficool2/TF2Ware_Ultimate

I have also added Steam Store Page links for both Team Fortress 2: Classic & Open Fortress, which following the excellent news of the release of the Team Fortress 2 Source Development Kit, are now anticipating release on Steam alongside other such mods as Lambda Fortress.

Sound Collection: Team Fortress 2 & Community

TREPANG²
This collection has now been updated to:
  • Include a full audio extraction from Update 3 & the Bladekisser D.L.C. (While I failed to keep note of the "Build#" & "Build Date" of the time, the current "Build#: 2484, Build Date: July 30th 2024 15h" that included some post-D.L.C. fixes made no additions/changes to extracted audio)
  • Correct the download link for the June 2022 Demo audio extraction that I had mistakenly duplicated the July 2022 Demo audio extraction download link for.
You can quickly navigate to the collection here:
Sound Collection: TREPANG²

You can also fetch the post-launch Halloweener & Bladekisser Soundtracks, as well as the Official Demo Soundtrack for free (or 'name your price') from composer Brandon McKagan's Bandcamp[brandonmckagan.bandcamp.com], which can also be heard here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNMxAtwOb2Q
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-CDgRo6a34
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8Zze1V9Jb4

The full Official Soundtrack is otherwise also available from composer Brandon McKagan's Bandcamp[brandonmckagan.bandcamp.com] in between 16bit 44.1kHz & 24bit 44.1kHz Lossless, which can also be found on Steam & GOG in both MP3 128kbps or WAV [16bit] as separate Music/D.L.C. or as part of the 'Banger Edition', as well as be heard here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHPdODKf8W4

Oddly, fan-favourite 'GACK' & 'GACK No Metal' is still not currently available via Bandcamp, Steam nor GOG, but can be found and/or purchased as part of 'Grounded Aviation Cleanup Killings' via other common music streaming/distribution services.

CONCLUSION
And that's everything for now. Apologies for the exceptionally long read, but hopefully it was a useful or otherwise worthwhile one.

Until next time, farewell.

How To Stop: Killing Games However, if you're already informed on this matter, you need no explanation on this matter and/or want to get straight to determining if you are able to have a say on the matter and how, a website has been set-up to help you determine this and best direct you to what methods are available to you at present or in the short-term:
https://www.stopkillinggames.com/

The short, but maybe not precisely correct version as I understand it is:
  • If you own The Crew in any legitimate manner and can provide verifiable proof that you do, you should be able to participate regardless of your nation of residence and/or citizenship.
  • If you do not own The Crew in any manner (Myself included), then it is going to depend on if you are eligible to contact the Consumer Protection Agencies and/or sign Government Petitions for a small number of nations (France & Australia appear to have the most available national options, with Canada, Germany & the United Kingdom having at least one option of their own while residents of the European Union should have the European Citizens' Initiative as an option available to them at a later date).
While I do apologise for making use of this group's announcement system for anything that doesn't directly pertain to video game audio & music from inside or outside of it, I'd rather have to apologise for briefly annoying most of you in the hopes of reaching what few may wish to be informed on such matters and if/when the opportunity to do something productive regarding it presents itself rather than be left regretting that I did not try to "spread the word" by what means I had available at all.

Concluding things with what more relevant news that I can offer for now, here are some recent additions to the Sound Collection:

Squad
A full audio extraction from version 7.1 of Squad, as well as new audio added in the 'bb24.02.02' update for the French Faction Mod have now been added to this particular Sound Collection, with a full audio extraction of version 7.2 for Squad to follow hopefully not long from now.

You can quickly navigate to the collection here:
Sound Collection: Squad (Various Versions)

Hell Let Loose
Full audio extractions from Update 14.7 & 14.8 of Hell Let Loose have now been added to this particular Sound Collection.

You can quickly navigate to the collection here:

Once again, apologies for any inconvenience caused. And until next time, farewell.
