Friend List doesn't work

Since yesterday update my friend list is not working at all, it never loads and instead just shows a blackscreen. Anyone else?

i have an "invisible" outline of the steam friend list and i can close it when i aim for the upper right hand corner where the [X] should be, but i have pretty much the same problem.
restarting the client or the computer hasn't worked.

next i'll try to opt out of the beta client and then opt in again.

i uninstalled and re-installed the steam client beta, but still had the same bug.
grabbing the friend list by the top and moving it around between my 2 monitors made it visible again.
but it took several moves, setting it to full screen and then windowed again, draging it between screens and resizing it.

closing the friend list and re-opening it makes it "invisible" again, though.

I just switched to normal steam from beta.

if someone still facing this issue, as ZigCat mentioned above
that moving between his two monitors worked for him.
but for single monitor guys just move it rapidly around for it work again XD

Also, do the same for Chat box.

The same thing with the chat window, if you jerk the window will be displayed, but the message text will be displayed and updated only after you move the chat window.

It's practically every pop up window Steam has now. Try opening the properties to any game and you'll see the same thing. What a mess.

Enabling GPU Accelerated Web Rendering seems to resolve the issue (for me at least)
but the thing is, it should simply work without this setting enabled.

Having this setting enabled in the past led to memory leak issues. I haven't seen or heard news of this being fixed.

I switched back to normal steam and it is all good. Beta is so broken now...

the latest patch that just rolled out fixed the visibility issue.

More or less confirmed, issue still is present for me in latest beta build.
Set to show friendslist at starting Steam, the main window doesn't open at all

• Tried several times, even with rebooting computer in between.
  
• No white screen, it's completely unavailable.
  
• No "invisible" outline i could shake around on my screen (possible workaround from posts above).
  
• (Re)Enabling GPU Accelerated Web Rendering didn't fix it for me (possible workaround from posts above). Actually it was enabled before. Disabling it didn't fix it either.
  
  
• The smaller friends/group list accompanying chat does show as it should, docked & not docked to chat window. [Edit] Yet only when it was opened at the time of closing Steam previously. When it was closed at that time, it doesn't open. [endEdit]
  
• Friends requests show propperly in the corner of my screen, not affected.
  
• Other pages that can be set as opening page at starting Steam are not affected. It's only the friends list.
  
  
• i use one monitor.

This issue is present for me with latest beta. I find if I try to drag the chat window I can get it to appear.

Try dragging the top of the window.

It's bizarre because i find I can click on and drag friend's avatars and chat tabs even when the window is showing 'invisible'.

Not fixed for me. Loaded Steam up just 30 minutes ago and had 'invisible' window.
Not doubting you, just my findings. :D

You guys who are still having the issue with friends and chat, do you have a little green circle in the friends list near the top right corner? Check if you do. It applies an update to the friends separate interface from the Steam client. I received one the other day and combined with last night's beta to Steam update, I haven't seen the issue return.

I still have this in both Release and Beta version. However, this issue as i experience it, now looks more like "as intended" then i previously thought: see the edit to my previous post here above, repeated below.

Further info:
My screenshot uploader is not affected, but i didn’t try with non-Steam games.
Work-arounds as presented in this and other threads:

• changing Steam Settings ,
  
• clearing Browser Cache and Download Cache and there-after changing settings, did not work for me.
  
• I have no green circle on any of the friendslistings indicating an update seperate from the general Steam updates.

No improvement.

I then “uninstalled“ Steam mannually, i.e. deleting files, including the Steam files from AppData\Roaming & shortcuts (to many hours spent last week to DL and install games fresh for Windows 11 to want to do this via the Steam uninstaller). I did not clean the Registry. Re-installed via a freshly DLed installer.

Friends list opened all right at initial start of Steam (release), as well upon initial change to the Beta program. In both Release and Beta version, when the friendslist was closed before closing steam, the friendslist still will not open at the next start of Steam within the same version. Switching between versions, it again opens initially but not a next time if it was closed.

Before re-installing, i have not seen Steam running as a background process. Then again, i checked that only a few times and might’ve overlooked this as i did not yet de-bloat Windows 11.

Ctrl-Alt-Tab shows Steam is not running as an application although the screenshot window is opened via taskbar icon, and the friend-requests are showing in the lower right corner of my monitor.
