Login to your Google account through the steam overlay
Hi all.
I have two questions, unfortunately I could not find the answers to them myself.
First: when I open the Google browser window in the game, I can’t log in to my account - a message appears that the application or browser is not safe. What could be the problem?
And the second question: the browser window in the game, when reduced, is not scaled, but cropped. What needs to be done to scale the window?
I apologize in advance for the google translate.

Second question: search for similar topics, check if there are any, and if not, post this under Bug Reports.

Won't change anything.

It's Google's policy to not allow sign in via embedded browsers, full stop.
Valve will only be able to allow users to sign into Google on Steam's embedded browser by following Google's guidelines: they have to pop the sign-in prompt in the OS default browser and use a localhost callback to receive an auth token.
Then they can forward that token to their web views so you're automatically 'logged in'.

The reason for doing it this way is Google doesn't trust any third-party app embedding a web view with not eavesdropping on users entering their password (which is trivial inside embedded web views, without requiring e.g. administrator privileges).

Ironically, the only way you'll ever get a functioning Google sign-in paired with Steam again, is if Valve decides to write additional native code to link up the sign-in and specifically keep that out of Chromium web views.

Hey everyone,

I just managed to link my Google account to Steam on November 21, 2024.

All you need to do is access Steam through a browser.
Don’t try doing this from the installed Steam app.

Open Google or any browser, search for Steam, log in, and give it a try.
Once everything is set up, your installed Steam app will sync as well.
