Getting messages from unknown suspicious person, got scared, any idea?
Hey there,
I got scared that from two nights when I'm in the middle of a game, I get messages from unknown suspicious person so what should I do about it as when that person first time messaged me, I allowed the communication and I said: "who are you" then he replied with a long wording description about inventory items what I didn't read entirely but when I saw its about inventory then I got to know that it must be a hacker so I blocked him instantly but the other following night I received a message again from different account which I blocked instantly so please help me that what should I do about it as I thought that nobody can send a message on steam without adding someone so how it could be possible and if anyone can send you a message then its really annoying as there shouldn't be an option to send messages to anyone without adding him/her and because of this scary situation I make my Steam profile private every night before going to sleep so any help, advice, or suggestion would be really appreciated!

If you are in any group chat theny can send you a direct message as if they were added as friends and in the past there was an exploit to be able to send messages to non friends (I have not heard of a new method but anything is possible).

It is def not a Valve employee or anyone like that so blocking and ignoring is the best thing to do and not interact with them or do anything they might tell you to do.

Okay and yeah they're not added in my friend list and never had!

I've also launched an Steam support ticket for this but if its really a Steam exploit that someone is messaging me directly without adding me then I urge the moderators to move this post to Bug Reports so this post could get more attention and would be wisely treated!

I've found out that normally there's no option to send a message to anyone while browsing their Steam profiles but since it happened to me in CS:GO so there's an option to send a message while seeing scoreboard and clicking on a message icon but its up to that person if they block or allow communications from their side but still its annoying for me that any stranger person is messaging me like this so I hope if its really annoying to a lot of people like me then it will possibly be fixed some day in the future soon by the game developer!

Oh, yeah. Didn't know what game but yes you can do that in cs:go.

Report them through their profiles and let Valve deal with them.

Yeah I've already launched the Steam support ticket for this so Valve would know and I told them that if they want those profile links then I can provide them from my blocked list and if these same accounts do this again then I will definitely report their profiles but its of no use even if Valve would've banned those accounts as whoever that person will be, they will send those messages again with different accounts!

Either scammer or bot, if they very quickly are asking about trade in one way or another.
