What is the point of the "REMEMBER MY PASSWORD" check box?
Every time the steam client gets updated I have to login again and again, but that is not what is so irksome, what bugs me is that you have a useless stupid check box that says "REMEMBER MY PASSWORD" and regardless of whether this check box is checked or not it does NOT remember our passwords. What is the point of a useless check box that does absolutely nothing????

Steam > Settings > Account >>> uncheck "Don't save account credentials..."

That in tandem with the login screen checkbox will save your account info.

Client updates may reset some settings. When that happens make a bug report.

I have never had a problem with Steam remembering my password, I have hardly ever entered it in I'm glad I wrote it down on a pw document because I'm starting to forget it.

Perhaps you have a cleaning software on your computer that you run and it deleted it.

I just looked in settings and the "Don't save account credentials..." is already unchecked but I appreciate your help, thank you...

I don`t have any cleaning software on the computer but thank you for the suggestion...

Perhaps Steam can't write the credentials because the OS doesn't allow it to. Does the user account on your computer OS have standard root priviledges? (If you can mess with Win32 then it does.)

never be asked again for pw, just don't do that on a insecure or shared computer.

Thank you this worked for me, however my original question still stands that if this check box is defunct for whatever reason requiring a "Workaround" why is it still a feature? Is there nobody working at Steam available to just remove the code for the "Remember Your Password" checkbox that does exactly nothing, are they all so busy messing up how peoples libraries are displayed to just remove the redundant check box and associated code?

It's working as intended for me. I pressed Exit Steam and then opened steam again and it logged right in.

If you press Change User, it logs you out and clears your remembered password

here's a video of it working:
