I search and did not find it, hope it was not posted all ready if i am not alone

When i click on the Clear Download Cache Steam Clinet just crash with no error messages
When i turn it back on, i need to relog even if i was set to remember my password

After refreshing Steam files the issue did not seem to be fixed

To me the client seems to be closing as intended, not crashing. I do not remeber if it did that before but this would be logical.

To be sure : your password did not work anymore before refreshing all Steam Files correct?
As i don't use the feature, all i can say on the password issue is that refresshing would include wiping your sensitive information. But merely wiping DL cache would not.

What's your OS and Steam version?

This just started for me during the last few days. I've been having to clear the browser cache constantly for months now in order to view Steam content. Flash is up to day, internet is screamingly fast. So to resurrect and old thread but it's still relevant and could use some reason answers. Thanks.

Driveby Chickens, when you experienced the crash, was your Steam already updated to the new version of the 28th or were you still on the previous version of the 21st?

Steam Beta update of the 28th of sept. :
Fixed an issue that could cause Steam to crash or hang forever at exit
MurderChickenXL Sep 28, 2017 @ 9:45pm
No issue with hanging on exit though I have to end task it when it actually hangs from clearing the browser cache. BTW this only happens when I am playing a game. If I'm just on the Steam client without any games running it doesn't crash.

The beta versions of Steam interfere with joining the PUBG test server for some reason so I opted out of it recently. The stock client updated before I started playing today. Oh, by Steam content I mean Youtube videos and external links. Thanks.

This is currently happening to me. Steam crashes when trying to clear download cache. Steam client runs awfully, very slow to load images and pages (if they load at all) and now downloads from my own library have stopped working too.

@Mentazm:
What OS is your device? And other relevent computer specs?

What modus do you usually use? Regular Steam Client, Big Picture view or Small Modus? Please try to provide more info. You're not the only person with slowness troubles lately, better add to those new threads in stead of necroing this old one. Although the effect may seem to be the same, current troubles are another issue then the one from this old thread.

This is happening to me now too. I'm trying to clear it because all of the sudden I can't download/update games (or even play some) because it says "An error occurred while updating _____ (content servers unreachable)". Also my friend's list is bugged and show's N/A next to my friends who are in a game and it just says they are online rather than the title of their game. Steam also crashes when I try to restart it for something like changing download server. All i did today was download valorant (unrelated to steam), update minecraft (also unrelated), and that's it I think.

Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
12 GB RAM
64 bit
AMD Radeon RX 570 GPU
Windows 10 Home

Tried:
Deleting everything in steam folder besides steamapps, steam.exe and userdata then running steam.exe.
Restarting PC

I also noted this in my thread about the content servers. Steam even crashes when you try to change your server region.

Same issue here, just got a new game and it can't even download because of this :(

I am having this problem, which I noticed because I'm getting the content servers unavailable when trying to update and play my games. I am not using a beta version or anything

Hmmm. I found my way here because I'm having this same issue. This thread is three years old and has 6 posts including mine in the last hour. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say something is wrong on Steam's end.
