Config tool crashes on startup

I just installed the Special K mod for DS3 but I'm having issues getting the config tool started. It looks like it is crashing on startup with the following error (pulled from Event Viewer):

The mod itself is loaded when I start DS3 and works fine (I can edit the config manually), it's just I can't access the config tool from outside the game. Any ideas?

By the way, I am running this on a KVM virtual machine using GPU passthrough so not sure if that would be the reason, but everything else works fine.

The system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application.

I have no idea why WIndows isn't reporting this to you directly and is instead only reporting that in the event viewer.

You need to use the config tool for this mod to work as a general rule, because it needs parity in a few of the game's settings (resolution settings) and the mod's settings and it also helps tremendously if the game's config file is set read-only as the config tool does.

You can do both of those things without running the tool, but at this point I don't remember the name of the config files or any details beyond this.

Interesting. Based on that error, I tried disabling the real-time protection in Windows Defender and now the config tool launches fine.

Hi Kaldaien,

Having a very similar problem over here. Yesterday I installed your mod with ease, everything worked fine and it worked perfectly.

Today, I tried opening up the DS3T.exe file and it didn't open up. I played around with stuff, tried a fresh install (I used the autoinstaller, and then the custom installation) and nothing happened. Had a look in Event Viewer like the guy above me and it's a very similar story:

Would very much appreciate if you helped me out here, I've tried disabling real time protection and making exceptions for malicious injection in windows defender to no avail.
