I may attempt to fix the game's low quality cascaded shadow maps and framerate limiter in later releases of Special K. I'm busy with other stuff at the moment though, and this isn't a very high profile game.

it doesnt work. The config menu doesnt show up.

I have been trying to get the ingame menu to open, but cntrl+shift+bkspace does not work for me. The fps are much higher then before installing, so I guess the software is working, but I cannot configure it. What am I doing wrong?

You probably have some video capture software blowing things up. Mirilis Action! does this, FRAPS as well.

If FRAPS is the probllem, go ahead and remove it from your system. It causes these problems more often than you're aware.

Other vidcap software can be started after the game is and will work.

Thank you, it was the MSI Afterburner that somehow got in the way, although I have not installed any vidcap software.
Also, thank you very much for doing this, the game was really unplayable with horrible fps drops before your Mod/Fix/Recovery.

Sorry for reviving such an old thread.
Trying to switch to fullscreen by alt+tab freezes the game (white screen, music still playing).
I already tried to use the latest special K release (renamining it), but that did not helped.
Any suggesttion?

I hope you got it working, otherwise I'd recommend checking out the version linked to in the opening post. I just updated it to link to the latest version of the mod that Kaldaien released last year, since it apparently didn't do that.

Hello, after installing your mod my fps drops dramatically - its almost stablo 25 fps~~ :( is there any fix?

yeah after using this for lego city undercover to see if it would change the vsync-ed fps to 60 (it locked to 58 causing microstutter on my end) it dropped the framerate considerably.. now it constantly varies between 43 and 60 which is even worse than the microstutter... Anything I can do about that??

before this it was a locked 58 with no drops whatsoever.

I've installed the mod, because I had microstutter and the 60 FPS lock annoyed me (my PC was not even 50% used). Now I have 40 FPS and stutter. Help?

Which CPU/GPU combo are u guys using? Because I run an AMD Ryzen 3600 and an Radeon 5500XT 8GB OC and I guess the microstutter might be caused the graphics driver...

We've bought 4 copies of Lego City, one for everyone in our household, because we really liked it on Wii U. We're running Linux with Proton. While the game runs OK-ish on all our PCs, the frame rate seems stuck at around 60. So I installed this mod but it doesn't seem to be working with this setup (Linux/Proton). Holding ctrl+shift during startup and ctrl+shift+backspace in-game do not give any kind of menu.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the PC version? because this is meant for the PC version and not the original Wii U version.

Yes we are using the PC version. Like I wrote above we're running Linux with Proton. In our case that means the regular Steam client for Linux using the "Steam Play" option to run the Windows version of Lego City.
