    in a galaxy far far away...

Problem Description
Capcom's Idea of Aspect Ratio Correction:

Aspect Ratio Agnostic:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=604364354

Pre-Release (0.2.0)
https://github.com/Kaldaien/AgDrag/releases/tag/agdrag_020

See the following post for a more detailed discussion on the features in testing.

Download (0.1.1)
https://github.com/Kaldaien/AgDrag/releases/tag/agdrag_011

Summary of Changes in 0.1.1[github.com]
  • Adds background rendering mode, where Alt+Tabbing does not pause the game
    • Disabled by default (for compatibility reasons), press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + B to toggle this

  • Adds left Alt and Ctrl key blocking
    • These keys alias to Insert and Delete in this game, and makes pressing them cycle UI pages...
    • The option to disable it is now offered (see AgDrag.Keyboard in AgDrag.ini for more details).

  • The command console (Ctrl + Shift + Tab if RTSS is installed) now blocks the game's keyboard input while active.

Summary of Changes in 0.1.0[github.com]
  • Adds nametag aspect ratio correction
    • Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+M to toggle
    • Press Ctrl+Shift+ [ or ] to adjust horizontal position

  • Adds nametag "Always on Top"
    • Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+N to cycle modes

      Mode 0
      Nametags behind things will disappear
      Mode 1
      Nametags are simply drawn overtop everything
      Mode 2
      Nametags are dimmed and outlined when they are behind something

  • Adds nametag "Temporary on Top"
    • Press and hold N
    • This forces visibility mode 1 while held

Summary of Changes in 0.0.9[github.com]
  • Fixed UI scaling on Status screen
  • Fixed UI scaling on Pawn recruitment screen
  • Fixed flickering weight indicator on inventory screen
  • Significantly smarter nametag / quest icon rendering detection
  • Mouse coordinates in menus are aspect ratio correct now
    • Horizontally at least, vertical correction may not work in all cases

Summary of Changes in 0.0.8[github.com]
  • Fixed aspect ratio on save dialogs
  • Fixed many fullscreen effects such as menu transitions that were not filling the screen
  • Miscellaneous ENB compatibility updates

Summary of Changes in 0.0.7[github.com]
  • ENB Compatibility (proxy DLL)
  • Mini-map rotation fixes

Old 0.0.6 Version for test purposes
https://github.com/Kaldaien/AgDrag/releases/tag/agdrag_006

Installation
Unzip AgDrag.zip into your DDDA install directory and run the game

Uninstallation
Delete d3d9.dll and AgDrag.dll

Configuration
You can turn features on/off while the fix is running and they will be saved in the configuration:

Keyboard Shortcuts
Toggle UI Aspect Ratio Correction
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + A
Toggle UI Horizontal Centering
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Z
Toggle Nametag Correction
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + M

Cycle Minimap Vertical Locations
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + V
Cycle Nametag Visibility Modes
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + N
Temporary Nametatg Visibility
Press and HOLD N

These key-bindings are deliberately difficult, consider macroing a mouse or gamepad button to them (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+A in particular) until they are no longer necessary.

Known Issues
  • Main map needs work
    • When interacting with it, you should turn aspect ratio correction off.

  • Depth of Field must be disabled for this mod
    • The in-game option only partially disables it, and it will continue to appear in cutscenes

    • Edit %LocalAppData%\CAPCOM\DRAGONS DOGMA DARK ARISEN/config.ini
      • Set Stereo=TRUE and this will completely disable DoF (in cutscenes too)
      • Thanks to Josh for pointing this out.

  • All menus are fixed vertically, but some are still stretched horizontally.

Horizontal Centering is automatically calculated for standard ultra-wide resolutions, but if you are using an uncommon resolution you may need to adjust the center of the screen by pressing Ctrl + Shift + < and Ctrl + Shift + >.

If you find this is the case, please leave a message in this thread with the resolution you are running.

Misc. Odds and Ends
When the map menu is fixed, this will be turned into a guide. There are a lot of configuration options in the core injector for things like Steam achievement sounds and such.

In lieu of a text guide for this project, the basic OSD functionality is explained here (requires RivaTuner Statistics Server):

Use those OSD keyboard shortcuts to enable/disable various parts of the OSD.

I know this game is super old by now, but did anyone ever find a way to get reshade working with this? I know ENB works.

A long shot:

I am trying to make this mod work on GoG version, has anyone made it?

I changed on file d3d9.dll
From:
Filename=steam_api.dll
To:
Filename=Galaxy.dll

but the game still crashes on startup

So there is no way to get both the minimap to correctly show your location arrow AND objectives/waymarkes at the same time? I just started and i was looking to pick up a book for a priest, I saw a red circle on minmap , I had adjusted the vertical position as my character marker was off the map, but this off set the markers when I set it back and pretend my arrow was in the center I was able to find it :(

Can anyone help me? This was working for me last year but I installed the game again and all the graphics are smeared upwards in a horrible way. If I change the resolution it fixes it, but then it is stretched. Anyone know a way to fix this?

Thank you for this mod.

Running it on a widescreen there is a seam off centre to the right of the screen - its not too bad and isn't distracting, but wondered if this was fixable? Can provide a screenshot if needed.

The seam seems to break the cinematics as well. They wrap around the screen so it's not really watchable. I assume these are all linked.

In-game cinematics are fine.

Thanks.

On a 3440x1440. I was able to use this 2 years ago, but this year, the game won't launch at all when I have the 4 files in the folder. Seems to be caused when I have any d3d9.dll in the folder, even from sweetfx or ENB. I've disabled anything that looks like an overlay in my task manager. Still not working.

Any one have any similar issues or fixes?

You can get them working at the same time.

Install Kaldaien's ultrawide fix.

Install enbseries wrapper (not injector) for Dragon's Dogma but keep the d3d9.dll in a separate location. Do not overwrite Kaldaien's d3d9.dll with the same file from enbseries.

Rename d3d9.dll from enbseries wrapper to "enbseries.dll" and place it in Dragon's dogma main directory where everything else is.

Open d3d9.ini and paste this at the very bottom:

[Import.enbseries]
Architecture=Win32
Filename=enbseries.dll
Role=d3d9
When=Proxy

Install the enb of your choice but do not overwrite the d3d9.dll if they contain the same file.

I just got this game (that's been out forever), and I still have to go through all these hoops to properly play it? Why hasn't the actual install from Steam been fixed?

EDIT: Okay, so I downloaded the 4 files and put them in the folder and started the game.. The aspect ratio is centered now and looks good, however, my mouse still doesn't click in the correct spot. Like when I click on Main Menu, it thinks I'm actually clicking below on Exit Game. Is there a fix for this that I missed?

It's not Steam's fault, it is Capcom's

It appears this mode is a little broken as I get a huge split down my screen. Any videos are render offset and wrap around to the other side of the screen. When I enable ENB there is a noticeable line in the same place that videos are offset.
