SKIM won't install the Zestiria fix
https://i.lensdump.com/i/AnXuDk.png

As you can see in the image there, it gets to the point where it asks if I want to install it. But clicking yes only makes it fill up instantly and then nothing happens.

Why doesn't it work?

I would strongly advise against running my installer as admin. In fact, unless an installer actually asks to be run as admin this is good advice to follow. Any bugs in software have less potential to cause problems the lower the privilieges you run the software with.

In any case, there should be a few logs.

No files like that in the Documents folder. Not even a SpecialK folder. Then again, I don't have the SKIM64 program on that drive.

I found it a bit odd that the download in the link for the Zestiria fix only provided you with single application and no additional files. Is that why it won't work?

No, the installer is all you need. It downloads the stuff from the Internet and installs the mod after it locates the install directory of your game.

The installer is supposed to create Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\ and store a few things there, if it's not doing that then it's probably because you're running it as admin.

Try manually creating that directory, moving SKIM64.exe into that directory and then running it as a normal user.

I found this in a log folder in the Zestiria folder itself:

12/10/2018 02:25:17.264: []
Line 84 of c:\users\andon\source\repos\specialk\src\ini.cpp (in iSK_INI::iSK_INI (...)):

_wfsopen (filename, L"rbS", _SH_DENYNO)

File: h:\spel\steam\steamapps\common\Tales of Zestiria\Version\installed.ini

12/10/2018 02:25:17.364: [AutoUpdate] Fetched 4912 bytes from /Kaldaien/TZF/master/version.ini
--------------------------

What is that?

And moving the program to the created folder in My Documents greys out the drop-down Branch menu.

And this is kind of a lengthy bunch of data from the repository config folder in the Version folder in the Zestiria one:
