Creating "custom" ambush object for dwarven spider
What I mean by ambush object is that vent that dwarven spider comes out of when you approach.
So the issue is that I want to make that same vent but with invisible textures, so me being bad at scripting I tried to just make a duplicate of the original object and just change the
name and set textures to be null, which creates new file. However when I link the ambush spider with the object itself and setup the trigger box, I find that in-game the spider doesn't respond properly and is already "awake" and not even inside the vent itself. I don't know what causes this since the only thing I did is change the name of my new copy of the original file and set invisible textures...I checked everything with the original file and all the settings are same. I even checked the scripts and their source for both my copy and the original and they are also the same.

Can anyone explain why this doesn't work? Is it something inside the nif file itself or what.
I'm really confused..

I think, but I'm not absolutely sure, that using null textures is the problem. Try to make the dwarven spider invisible or set the spider's alpha to (near) zero.

Well the thing is, I tried also to just duplicate the original vent without changing anything whatsoever (except the name of the object) and it still didn't work, so I don't think it is related to textures at all...The only thing I can see it being related to is the actual name of the original vent but that's just silly.

You will have to check everything related to the original Dwemer spider and compare it to the copy you made. Without any further info I can't help you with that. Maybe use xEdit to look for differences between the original and the one in your mod. Did you also check the properties in the attached scripts?

I checked basically everything. The script has no properties and I even checked the script source and it's not that either. I'm not really familiar with any 3rd party software such as xEdit and honestly I'd rather scratch the entire idea and just use the original vent. Anyway, thanks much for the reply and if you think of anything else it would be much appreciated.

When creating mods you sometimes have to get familiar with 3rd party software as those can give you the information needed to find the solution. It may provide you with errors, conflicts with other mods, etc. Sometimes you may not be aware of that, and a 3rd party app may just point you to the solution. If you want, you can always send your mod to me via info@elder-scrolls.nl

I think I'm just gonna scrap the idea and go simple. Thanks again for the reply and If and when I get my mod done, I'll send it to you so you can try it out and maybe enjoy it too :)
